2021 Trust Golf Women's Scottish Open (Aug 12 - 15)

I love links golf. They've played so many pushover courses/setups this season that it's nice to see them tough it out.

Great leaderboard. Lots of familiar names, but a few surprises. Also a few surprises among those cut.

I use fast forward quite a bit, so the announcing crew generally doesn't bother me. However, this group doesn't know when to stop talking. Was there a period of ten seconds or more when there was silence? Lol.

I hope Beth Allen is on her way back home! I prefer Morgan Pressel 100 times to her. In fact I've grown to like Pressel a lot.

Oof. Rough day for Jenny (+6) and Stacy (+7). Scoring looks tough, although Su is having a nice day.

The average score for Round 3 is 73.506.  But USA Solheim hopefuls Stacy Lewis and Lizette Salas didn't inspire anyone, they shot +7 and +2 respectively.

This year's USA Solheim team is top heavy.  The Top-6 of Nelly, Danielle, Lexi, Jessica, Ally and Austin are all world.  But there is a big drop off to Meghan Kang, Lizette Salas, Jennifer Kupcho and so forth.

Of course, European is a joke, by comparison.  Charley Hull, Rolex #35, is the highest ranked player.

It was good to see Ariya smiling on the course. A few bad breaks, and a couple of iffy putts, but she kept her humor about her. Just one of those days on a links course. Rough day aside, she's still the favorite going into the final round.

Atthaya also had a cold putter. She had a ton of good looks, and only dropped a few. Wouldn't mind seeing her get her card.

Charley is in a good spot. Hasn't done much in the final rounds this season, though. Eight times she's shot even par or worse.

Ryann has been in this position before without cashing in. We'll see if she can stand up to the pressure. 'Could probably say the same thing about Ashleigh.

Can't leave Lydia out of the conversation. Just has a way of sneaking into contention on Saturdays this season.

Nice to see Marina. Only one top 20 this year, and that was back at the Kia.

Coverage was a little less chatty today. The director sure likes the quick cuts. Probably has ambition to be in Hollywood making action movies. Lol.

Yeah, rooting for Jeen to win tomorrow... Ariya's bunker shot that I thought went into this weird "animal burrowed" hole till these chatty commentators finally clarified it LOL...

Yes, they're not as "chatty" today as they were yesterday... but still...   I managed to count "dead air" for a good 3-4 seconds today 🤣

A Lovely but very easy links course with little wind so some should go low.

Terrific final round from Ally Ewing @ -9 incl 8 birdies and an eagle.

Such a lovely, repeatable one plane swing...a female Steve Stricker?

The announcer says “Marinar” Alex! Ariya’s apathetic attitude leads to apathetic golf. Someone needs to kick her butt in gear.

It's what makes women's golf so nice (re player's demeanour) yet also a little lukewarm with so many players thereabouts but seemingly satisfied with that.

As an example, Charley Hull has won 3 times in 8 years as a pro.

A few players with low final rounds in various tournaments with no chance to win (Ally today, easy conditions, Leona quite often) - 'performing' with the pressure off.

Ooh, controversial opinion?

Couldn't ask for a more solid round of golf by Ryann. She jumped right into it early, and looked solid all round. Great ballstriking, and a hot putter. Very nice.

Lydia has to figure out how to get out of the gate quicker, because she sure has figured out how to go low on Sunday. Lol. She's got to be the favorite next week.

Atthaya didn't capitalize on the closing holes. Just like yesterday, her putter was luke warm. Still like what I see, though. She definitely needs to be on the big tour.

Solid rounds by Ariya and Charley, but simply not enough on a day like today.

I had two pool picks this week, and 6ix and Yealimi both finished in the Top 10. I'm happy.

Very nice tournament. Could have used a little more wind today, and with it some additional drama, but we got some solid play and a tight leaderboard at the turn.

I forgot that Ryann was a Big Break alum (2010). She joins a select group from the show that have won on their professional tours.

The Golf Channel should rerun some of those Big Break series - especially the early ones.  It could replace ANOTHER showing of a Feheraty show. 🤢

@BadgerLin FYI if helpful... the GolfChannel website has a bunch of on-demand/free-to-air reruns of many Big Break series

...Are there specific BigBreak series you’re keen to re-watch? I saw the Tony Finau (Disney) season= available online.

Looking at the full leaderboard, it appears once again that the course was setup just a tad too easy with the driveable holes. Only 10 out of 71 players shot over par in the final round. Yeah, the lighter winds may have been a factor, but c'mon.

Dislike these manufactured, driveable par 4's. 236 yards to the green in light winds and plenty of run is just silly, some players were hitting shorter clubs than drivers through the green.

I love a well designed short par 4 that makes one think. There should be plenty of trouble if one elects to go for the green. However, taking a regular par 4 and simply shortening it cheapens it.
