Smallest (most compact) AND most forgiving Iron head?

Was looking on opinions for the most forgiving AND most compact iron head. I.e must meet BOTH criteria.

 

Thoughts?

The tricky thing is blade length has a relationship with forgiveness (at least perceived).  
 

what type of strike are you try to get more room on?  Irons now have tungsten in the toe to try and move weight there for better performance

That's a bit like asking what the fastest AND the slowest car is, those two are inversely proportional so its gonna be a tradeoff for the most part

That's a good comparison.  It's like asking what is the fastest and heaviest car.  Tesla Plaid is the only answer.

Actually its a bit weird but I didnt find the short TCB irons  ( PW/9/8 ) very forgiving but the 4i and the 5i were very easy to hit !!!

Better question may be what is the most forgiving compact iron head, but compact will have to have a definition.  Ie. equal to or smaller than T100?

I haven’t seen anything smaller than T100 that’s more forgiving.

 

It’s all going to depend on what OP defines as “compact.”

Wilson Staff V6 and the current CB are pretty short and compact, yet offer great forgiveness. 
 

Another pick: New Level 902 Forged. They look very compact to me.

I'd say it depends on your typical mishit. I've just been out for 9 with my VR Pros and spent most of the time hitting the ball a couple of grooves lower than ideal, and every one has still ended up on the green. If I'd been catching it out of the toe I would have had a bad time. 

 

So I'd say if you're normally higher up the face our out of the toe then the T100/S would be the way forwards, if lower or heel side get some forgiving blades, like the P7 TW.

Another pick: New Level 902 Forged. They look very compact to me. 

I own both the Wilson Staff CBs and New Level 902 irons.  They are both forgiving, and wonderful to hit, but the CB has a slight edge in forgiveness over the 902, IMHO.

Since 2019, I have a set of 620 CB and 620 MB, with a changing blend in the bag.  Unless a person has game, I would NOT suggest new CBs, especially if chasing "most forgiving."

 

Titleist purposely designed CBs to blend with 620 MBs, and they do it the best I've seen.  The CBs specs are nearly the same as MB, except CB's are a tad longer heel to toe, and have what is referred to as a cavity back.  Funny thing, CB mid to long irons do NOT broadcast forgiveness.  They are similar to MBs, sweet as hell with a solid swing. 

 

Last weekend on a dramatic uphill 178yd Par 3, using CB 4i, I whacked DASH pin high right, easy par, and on a short slight uphill 252yd Par 4, whacked DASH down the middle, 189yds.  Damn, I love striking the ball well, feels good.

Define forgiving.

Define compact.

 

Both can be quantified, but you need to give some guidance on how you are defining success.

Wow, this is a tough crowd!  I'd like to know which long haul tractor trailer rig, empty, has the best acceleration.  "You can't have both."  "Long haul tractor trailers don't have good acceleration!"  I'm  going to guess that ONE of the rigs accelerates faster than the rest; not as fast as your Corvette or Porsche, but quicker than the other tractor trailer rigs.  Come on, give the OP a break!  We all have a tremendous sense of what is "compact" and what is more "forgiving" in irons.  Of all the teeny tiny irons you've hit, which one has seemed the most forgiving to you?  Not an impossible question to answer, fellas!

There is a line where size and forgiveness intersect. Where that point is for you and your swing is entirely up to you (and your swing). 

 

For me the idea of forgiveness is overrated. Just hit the ball better. 🤣
