Finally broke 80 twice

What was the yardage and slope from the tees you hit?  I have three local courses that I would legit be proud of breaking 80 on (yet to do it, 82 my best)..

From the Whites they are....

70.8/122 6464 yards (Par 73)  - i have a 41 on the par 37 front 9 here, considered one of the tougher in the area for accuracy demanded and undulating greens.

71.1/119 6652 - Long hilly course, forgiveness on missed drives, I have two 40s here, one during my 82.

68.5/126 5974  - Short, but very tight and woodsy. Accuracy demanded on most holes. Well respected around here for its difficulty as there's lost ball potential on most holes. I have an 82 here as well. There's some shorter holes but you absolutely must hit it straight. It's a sister course to the one I'll mention below.

There's one area course that is 68.1/113 5929 from the whites.. I don't play it because I don't want my first 79 to be there. It has the reputation as the easiest course in the area and among my buddies as a "kiddie course".  Lots of wide fairways, big greens, short par 4s and 5s and very few penal areas. I shot an 87 here once when I was a 20+ cap. Me shooting a 79 would just get ridicule from my crowd and not considered legit until I do it one of the first three.

It is a short course but very tight and winding fairways. Played yesterday and they moved the tees back. I lost a ton of balls yesterday. Beat my playing partner by one stroke on the last hole. If your not straight, goodbye score.  Mums the word on yardage.  I forgot to add that they had a tournament Sat and were packed. A very popular golf course.

I will need to change tee boxes next time to make it real.

It is already “real”.  You put in the work and you made it happen!
Congratulations!

Congrats, now keep it going.

I have found once breaking 80, a lot of getting better comes from course management and sharpening your around/on the green game.

Most guys who break 80 can get off the box decent enough.

Almost did it today. I lipped out two birdie putts and missed two more by inches. Shot 80 at Western Hills in Hopkinsville, Ky. Shot 42 on the front and 38 on the back , with two birdies. My poor playing partner was singing the Blues. The last hole was witnessed by 7 people, bummer as I lipped it out. I beat my personnel best there by one stroke.

I was on track to break 80 again, bust just fell apart. I was playing with Mitch Beasley, a pro bowler who plays to a 5, and shot 37 on the front, then the .... hit the fan. Shot 45 on the back for a nifty 82 that should have been so much lower. Tis golf said the sad fellow.

Another round of 80 golf, this time at Nashville nationals playing the whites. For some reason I fall apart on the back nine, but this time I did birdie the last hole to card an 80. Shot 38 on the front and 42 on the back. I also had three birdies as well, but the doubles, arghhhhh! So close! But the irons and putter were doing great. I did back one up with a sand wedge for one of the birdies. that felt great!
