I wonder what the point of the plate is in the cavity. 
 

The weights in the sole are only 5 grams, so he could be trying to move weight away from the perimeter?

 

Probably pretty close to face balanced with that neck set up like that. Maybe that’s why they went for more mass behind the ball?

Maybe some sort of "feel tuning" thing going on there? Could be different materials behind the face to change sound and feel housed within a little cavity.

The smooth face plus the plate to fill in the hollow cavity probably make this putter feel extremely firm compared to his other one, which I am guessing is he was looking for.

The one at the Scottish had a knucklehead plumbers neck.  This is a completely brand new putter.  Plus the face stamping are different.

Yep. Two totally different putters. This one is new this week. Zoom in on this pic. You can see the big circle T on the face.  This one has a dot.

Yes.  This ^.  Probably help his short miss issue.  Most claim a mallet helps make shorties automatic. I just find I can’t make them hit it slow enough for short ones.  So works opposite for me.  Mallet makes lags easy but 3 footers hard.  For me.
