Get on Sand Hills or Dismal River?

Hey all - I am headed out to Prairie Club in late September and would love to try to sneak in a round at Sand Hills or Dismal River. I understand these are tough places to get on but I would appreciate any thoughts or advice anyone has (or if anyone knows if I even have a chance). I am a member at a private club in the Denver area if you think that might help.

A call to Dismal is worth a shot, not as difficult to get on if you simply ask. I would not be surprised if Sandhills is already closed for the season at that point though.

Thanks! I figured Dismal River would certainly be easier to get on then Sand Hills. Didn't know Sand Hills closes that early in the season, it seems like the fall would be perfect out there.

They loose their caddies by then which are kids going to school. Sand Hills process is well known where you write a letter to the owner asking for the privilege, but that needs to be before the season. Now you would be asking for next year.

Thanks @Schley . Here is a dumb question, but with Sand Hills (and other clubs), I always hear the advice to "write a letter." What exactly does that mean? Are they handwritten letters or emails? Are they generally just addressed to the club address? How do you know who the owner is? Youngscap? I know these are dumb questions, but I am curious.

You can’t send an email so a letter is the go. Just nice and polite, typewritten, give them your email so they can reply. I wrote in the January, they replied in the April, and we went in September the next year. Don’t ask for too much, like a group of 10. It’s not a huge place and their members rightly come first.
