Nippon 950gh what are you playing in driver

I have played Nippon iron shafts for at least the last 15 years, 1150's, 950's and Modus 105s.  I really get along with Mitsubishi wood shafts, particularly the old blue board and now the Tensei blue and orange.  For me they are smooth just like the Nippon iron shafts.

Looking to try some driver shafts, can anyone playing 950gh in their irons recommend a driver shaft? I like the weight, feel and kick of the nippons.

Yet to find something for my driver that i like as much. Thx

I love Nippons in my irons and have moved to the Modus 105s, but previously played the 950gh. Recently, within the past 2 months, I went back to what I believe was the best driver ever made, the PING G400. I went with a shaft that was considered an upgrade by PING. That shaft is the Aldila Xtorsion Copper. This was worked extremely well for me. I am just as long, if not longer - and straighter - than most of the folks that I play with. Sometimes newer is not better...now if I could just replicate that thought through the rest of my bag 🤣.

What ball flight are you looking for? If it's higher, like the 950s, I'd recommend a Ventus Red Velocore. Also, get fit.

Thx. I've tried a few fits in my area but found them very general and there wasn't a lot of shaft choice. I do best with lighter shafts, 60g or under in driver. I can play something like an Atnos Blue 6s and its ok but I don't 'feel' much. I prefer more feel under my hands and a nice kick  without ballooning. I average over 105mph in driver but I have no problem playing 950gh stiff in my irons and they don't go too high.

Mid to high ball flight with driver would be my preference but if it feels right and gives good distance i don't care really. I have a SIM max in 9 so plenty of scope to affect ball flight with loft. Currently have the stock tensei av raw in it.

I've been playing the Atmos Tour Spec Red. Seems to compliment the profile of my nippons pretty well.

Played 950GH Ss, still have a 950GH S in my U45, moved on to Modus 3 Tour 105s.  I'd guess you're looking for smooth, stable but not boardy with a touch of kick.

Like most everyone, it's hard to go wrong with the MCA lineup.  Kuro Kage, Diamana, Tensei...  The TM made for's are decent for a 950GH swinger.  I picked up a Diamana S Limited S on the Bay for cheap.  Really like it.  Really like the GDIs as well, but there are no cheap options.  Been hunting an old YS-6+ S for years; almost impossible to find and still expensive.

Iron shafts might give you a clue, but you still need a fitting.

Quite often, players are more aggressive with their driver swing than their iron swings. So, you might need a comparatively more robust shaft. Can't really get a 1:1 transfer, irons to driver.

I use the 950GH stiff and the ventus blue 6x in my driver.  The stiffness keeps me from hooking the driver.  Oddly, my irons launch kind of low with these shafts but I love everything about them.  The GD TP works well with my swing too.

That shaft is the Aldila Xtorsion Copper.

I bought two Coppers just in case one gets damaged.  I play the 60TX and I’m not a TX guy typically. I more often play a Stiff or X stiff.  I’ve hit some of the straightest drives in my life with this shaft.

I play Modus 105s hs/x1  and was thinking of throwing a 850gh or 950gh is a Driving Iron, but I found something that fit well, so went with a graphite shaft (Matrix DEUS 8S HD)

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
