In addition to the great courses already mentioned, you should also try Phantom Horse, which is in the South Mountain area as well. You will like the various challenges offered by that course.

Now, if you have the time, a car, and some cash, you should try to play at TPC Scottsdale, the Stadium Course, home of the FBR Open (the PGA tour stop in Phoenix). A low handicap player like you would love this course where even the pros can mess up. The only problem is that it's in North Scottsdale, which is quite a drive from downtown and it will cost something like $175 or so this time of the year.

I played Phantom Horse once and vowed never to go back. It was in horrible condition.

TPC Scottsdale doesn't sniff my top 10 courses in Scottsdale. Way overrated. If the entire course was like the final 4 holes then it would be something special.

To each its own, I guess.

I played Phantom Horse quite regularly from January to August 2007 while I was on a project in Phoenix, and it was quite fine to me, and Raven at South Mountain was not much better. And believe me, I have played at The Phoenician, Whirlwind at Wild Horse Pass (both Cattail and Devil's Claw), the Adobe course at the Arizona Biltmore, Ocotillo, to name a few.

Too bad you don't like TPC Scottsdale - it seems to suit the PGA just fine ;)

As a lot of you know I just got back from Phoenix and while I did not play the TPC course I did talk with quite a few who did and the overwhelming opinions were that it was exteremly overated and over priced. It's running around $250.00 right now.

Other than the ego boost of playing a tour course I cant imagine with the mutitude of great choices out there that the TPC would ever make my hit list.

Cheers,

Brad
