Speaking mainly about the fact that there were a ton of guys who clearly had no business being out there.

If you can't get it to 350 under those conditions with a long drive club, why are you on that stage?

There were a few guys barely getting it to 300 with a 25mph tailwind.

I suppose the more the merrier when trying to grow a sport, but isn't this supposed to be the best of the regional qualifiers?

I see 190+ ball speed off my tsi4 with my gamer swing and I wouldn't even begin to consider myself as competition for guys like Kyle.  What am I missing?

Why not? You are faster than anyone on the PGA Tour, well Bryson averaged 190. He isn’t competing against Kyle either, only a couple guys are. There are 140 people there and it’s very realistic to think that they all won’t be able to compete with the top guy.

It’s the same thing in a PGA Tour event. A guy may shoot +10 first round and it would suck to have the watch his round. And we don’t have to but the way these are setup in the early rounds everyone gets equal coverage.

Just watch the last 2 days then 🤷‍♂️

Crazy winds on Wednesday.

https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/09/29/bryson-dechambeau-advance-long-drive-world-championship/

DeChambeau – the 2020 U.S. Open champion – saw his longest drive Wednesday sail 355 yards into the gusty headwinds, 57 yards shorter than his longest blast of 412 yards Tuesday.

Kyle Berkshire, the defending champion after winning the event in 2019 and the 2020 competition having been canceled because of COVID-19, had the longest drive in Group A on Wednesday, sending a ball 328 yards into a stiff breeze across the morning’s relatively damp grid. For comparison’s sake, Berkshire hit the longest ball Tuesday, a 455-yarder. That’s a 127-yard difference based mainly on wind direction.

Bryson is doing well but he was placed in a very favorable bracket. Only Borgmeier is an elite hitter in this bracket. Berkshire, Justin James, Will Hogue, Waldron, Reisbeck, Josh Koch, etc., were all in the other brackets. I'm sure the PLDA wants Bryson to go as far as he can because they are a new long drive association trying to make a splash, very understandable. I hope they succeed. Also, the wind on the second day was into the hitters faces NOT downwind.

Golf Channel currently talking about this. Gave it almost 5min. Asked Bryson what he will focus on next to add even more distance. He said his body, get stronger. Said there were some real “monsters” out there. So I expect to see Bryson lookin’ something like this ⬇️ soon!… 🤣

if Bryson gets that big, he’s going to be able to cut through the deepest rough like a hot knife through butter!

The coverage was better 15 years ago.. at night under floodlights you could at least get the feel for the speed of the ball..

ridiculous streaming this in this way, ball invisible and some poverty version of top tracer that tells you nothing.

having said all that, Bryson is doing well, as much as I’ve seen he needs the toughest wind possible to have a chance, as he can obviously golf his ball better than the guys swinging faster.. I may watch later..

I can't really watch this. The coverage is like watching a bunch of bros at my local range on a Saturday trying to outdrive each other. Just a bunch of wild unbalanced swings and you can't see anything.

That is Ryan Steenberg, he will be hitting in Bryson's bracket tonight. He owns a few gyms so can work out whenever he wants.

Aaaaand then the numbers change somehow. Berkshire 403, Bryson 406 and Borgmeier 416.  Initially the Bryson drive was 417….then 416…..then when the results come out it’s down to 406.

Its a conspiracy!🤣

Definitely a crap show. But I also think people have no appreciation for how much money can go into some of these tv productions. These guys are doing it without a tv partner and doing everything off YouTube. Frankly I think even being able to watch it with some sort of rudimentary scoring is pretty great given that.

BDC still has one of the longest balls of the day - he's just pounding it by some of these guys with complete clownshow LD swings and guys with 20+ mph ball speed on him. Lots of guys putting six straight OB.

And before anyone gets defensive about the word "clownshow" - take it easy. Its meant to differentiate between that and a "golf" looking swing. The word clownshow in that case is entirely appropriate.
