The Saga of My i210s - Finally Comes to an End!

I've been a used club guy for a long time. My last set of brand new irons was a set of Izzo Bladez that I bought in probably 1999/2000, maybe. Everything since then has been used. 

 

It's not like I didn't want new clubs, but the used prices were always so tempting. In any event, the pandemic certainly changed that. 

 

So, I wanted new clubs for a bit. Specifically a set of Pings. Initially I wanted a used project set of S series irons. But...

 

A new set of i210s was pretty cheap. I knew the delivery times were long. I was prepared. I pulled the trigger. 5-P, Black Dot, Standard Lofts, Modus 105 Rs. Like a dumbass, I got Cosslines. That kicked it to "special order" from Ping. Should have gone standard grips. Would have shipped that day.

 

They told me to expect 6-8 weeks.  

 

Initially that's what I got. September/October. Then November. Ugh. 

 

Then, online retail sends me spam. I open. Exact set I ordered back in-stock! Ready to ship! 

 

Three emails later, no longer waiting for November. Now, waiting for Monday...Have tracking information. 

 

Watch progress across country, gets into home state, but, not at the local processing center yet...

 

Hasn't moved since Monday. "Potentially Delayed."

 

I am anxious.

This post could almost be describing me to a "t".  I have never had a new set of irons - my career goes Ping Eye 2 -> 99 Hogan Apex Blades -> Adams CMB.

 

Flash forward to this spring, did a fitting and i210 was the winner, couldn't say no at the price so I ordered.  Waited and waited and waited, then found a brand new set at 2nd Swing with my specs so I cancelled my custom order and picked up the new set the same day.

 

I've had them for about 3 weeks.  Really like the clubs.  I even ordered the 4i and UW custom to match the rest of the set.  However, just had to send the 5i back to Ping - shaft broke!

 

Good luck, I'm sure you'll love them once they finally arrive!

I went from Ping Eye 2s white dot to i200 white dot 6-W to i200 green dot 4-G.  Had one set for 25 years and the other 2 inside a month lol

Got an updated delivery time for yesterday. Still hasn't moved since Sunday. In limbo presently.

 

Haven't given up hope yet!

Yeah, it's left the last hub twice now, so I guess it's going around in circles!

They will show up. I ordered in may, and got mine a week or so ago. They just keep running out of components within your set most likely. At one point I was missing multiple heads, then the heads showed up and shafts were gone. They told me on the phone it’s the most custom club orders they have ever had. But it’s during the hardest time to get labor and parts.

I wish that were it at this point. Mine are lost in transit.

 

Tracking number stopped registering today. Called customer service, which is, of course, automated. Type in tracking number. No record. Ask for representative. To get representative, must enter valid tracking number. Went through that three times, then on hold for 48 minutes.

 

Customer rep was nice and all, but mutters something about Virginia? What?...and then, "the best we can do is open a tracking inquiry. They will start with the last known location...blah blah blah."

 

I don't know. My hopes are diminishing.

Mods might want to move this to the "Deal or No Deal" subforum...it's turning into a shipping horror story. 

 

So, the shipping label was messed up. They printed a new one. Now says delivery today, but nothing else has been updated. I don't believe much of what I am hearing. 

 

If they ever do show up, I'll be sure to post pictures!

Fedex has done this to me twice this month!! Have hope though! It took about a month to get a kettlebell delivered, and a hybrid took another month lol. Just days stuck in the same hubs, crazy

FedEx had been great most of the summer, but the last few weeks they’ve had this happen. I’ve had it happen with a few packages as well, golf and others. Unfortunately, at least in my area, a lot of these places are still running with light staff so these things happen. They haven’t lost any of mine yet, so don’t abandon all hope.

The times I have trouble with shipping have been pretty minimal overall - with FedEx or otherwise. But, it would make sense that the one time they screw it up would be this time.

 

Sheesh.

If it makes you feel better I have a replacement driver weight coming through FedEx right now that has been sitting in the distribution center 20 minutes away from my house for 8 days

I have a Ventus Blue 6TX that was due on Wednesday and is now just "Updated Delivery:  Pending"  🤦‍♂️

 

Ugggggh.  I feel your pain.

I know FedEx has had an issue with their computer system for the last few days. Our entire shipments from my company have no tracking info even though they have been picked up and shipped out.

Man, I am going in for a fitting in a couple days and with the MP20 MMC being gone and the P7MC seemingly gone, my options are dwindling and I was trying to stay away from Ping due to the horror stories like this and overall delays....  anyone having ANY luck with their orders??  May have to go ZX7 or Cobra MIM....

FedEx.  Lol. I have an edel 54 that  says delivery by 10 pm today.  It showed a scan in Arizona this afternoon at 3.  Maybe it’s on a flight now !?  Lol. But I’m not holding my breath.  Might see it before this next weekend.  Maybe.  Ups is the only reliable one left.

Just got an update from Club Champion on the i210 ordered in June, they are saying November now. +1/2”, modus 105, green dot.  Was supposed to be 12 weeks which is ridiculous but I understand what is going on in the world but this is unacceptable. If I can find something else I’m gonna cancel. Thing is I did a fitting and these won handily, so if I get something else…..regret….so I wait like the rest of you.

Just a quick update...

 

I feared that my i210s would be visiting Virginia, and low and behold they are. I hope they enjoy it. I guess I should be glad they finally moved.

 

I will probably call customer service again today. Has anyone else noticed how creepy the A.I. on their automated customer service system has become? Eerie.

Hi All,

 

The problem with FedEx is that they have a "contractor model" for deliveries.  These contractors have zero incentive to maintain their equipment or make on-time deliveries.  Hence, many of the issues we see.

 

The other issue is that FedEx business systems are antiquated and require a significant investment.  Packages being stuck in hubs and not moving for weeks on end.  This has been going on for years--long before CV19.  Yet, FedEx does nothing.

 

UPS is always a better choice.  At least they have UPS employees in UPS trucks making deliveries where they can control quality of their service.

Well, my clubs have spent the last few days on the road to Virginia, but I've been assured that they are on their way to my home state once again. We will see where they end up this time.

 

They assure me they will be delivered and they really appreciate my patience. So I've got that going for me...which is nice.

So...after a few days in Virginia, my clubs are apparently back at the distribution center in my home state where all the trouble began before. Haven't received any update on additional movement since Tuesday, but the are claiming that they will be delivered today.

 

I've heard that before and believe it even less this time. Perhaps the overall strategy is to ultimately have you give up on ever receiving your package, then when it arrives, you will be both surprised and happy. 

 

Believe me, if these clubs ever show up, I will be.

Fingers crossed it arrives today! How do you like the Cleveland driver? What were you playing before? I added Cleveland UHX irons to the bag so Cleveland clubs are high on my radar now. Not sure if it would/could replace my G400 Max.

Ordered my i210’s in March with a 6 week estimate delivery time. At 6 weeks I started checking in. Every week was has been a new story. They didn’t have a 7 iron head. The heads they got in didn’t pass quality inspection. They didn’t have the shafts. Was finally told 3 weeks ago they had every club except the 5 iron, so I said ship what you have. All I got was the 5 iron. My retailer is “escalating” within Ping but it’s frustrating. I’m in supply chain for work, so I get it, but seems like poor customer communication and expectations throughout.

Yeah, unfortunately no dice. Now they are saying Saturday. I'll believe it when I see it. 

 

But, about the Cleveland driver (I have the 2018 Launcher HB)...

 

It is a great club. I've also heard good things about the Launcher HB Turbo, but have never hit it. Haven't heard anything yet about the newest one.

 

Previously, I've always played Tour or Players drivers, but I've never been a "newest and greatest" kind of guy. I was playing Callaways for a long time - most recently the Diablo Edge Tour and Diablo Octane Tour. I also have a Cobra S9-1 Pro S that I liked and played well for several seasons. All of them were fine and worked, but were prone to big misses from time to time. 

 

And that's where the Cleveland really shines. They claim that the design helps control off-axis spin, and I can't say that I disagree. It really wants to hit high, straight balls.

 

Now, it isn't magic or anything. A bad swing is going to produce bad results. But, there is something to their claims. I have a ton of confidence in my ability to hit it well, as a result. 

 

It may not be the absolute longest driver - but it is long enough. It also doesn't have all the bells and whistles - no adjustable hosel etc. - but the price point makes up for that. 

 

If you have any interest, I'd pick one up and see what you think. They are very good clubs.
