How big of a pain are camera LM as a sim

Im wondering if anyone has experience using a GC2 or quad or skytrack with both LH and RH golfers … I know it’s not ideal but me and my daughters are lefties but my dad or a friend will probably come play once in a while … understanding it’s a pain I guess my question is is it only a qiestion of switching it over or is there calibrations to do which makes this not really feasible ?

Not sure exactly how much trouble it is, but people do do it. Doesn't seem to take the pros long to setup a quad when they throw it down on the practice ground at a tour event. In your sim room you can have the floor already marked out and leveled ready to move the unit onto I suppose.

 

But if you have the budget to be considering a 20,000 dollar quad, then you could easily have two Skytraks or GC2s setup permanently for left and right for far less money.

Im more thinking about a skytrack or the new bushnell unit not quite gc quad level to start I was just using those as examples

OK I think you need someone who actually does this for social events to chip in and tell you how practical or not it is. 

 

My impression is not very practical with one machine, not if you're playing a round of golf taking it in turns to hit.

 

If you've got the ball flight (say 12 to 15 feet) to make radar work that will almost certainly work better for this purpose.

That's assuming the sim software can support multiple LM's at the same time.  Many can not.

Do you have enough space to both sides such that a left and right handed player can play the ball from the same position?   If not, it's going to be a pain no matter what type of LM you use.

 

But Uneekor is a newer overhead optical unit that I think supports both handed players at a reasonable price (relative to Flightscope X3 and TM).  Xi Tour is another lower cost options if you have the room depth to support radar units but it doesn't do chipping and putting.

Indoor use, with any spatial limitations at all, and optical camera setups are far superior to radar. I would get a LH setup and just assume 99% of its use will be by your daughters or you. I thought friends and family would come use mine with me more, but it’s happened about 1/100th as much as I would like.

For indoor simulation, camera based systems are going to be better. I'd even take a $2k skytrak over a $20k trackman unless you have like 20' of ball flight.

I bought a Uneekor overhead unit for $6K a couple years ago. It's extremely solid & rarely misses a shot. I've played many other simulators & this one did not disappoint. It's great for right or left hand. It's a camera based system so it works well for putting too. Only drawback is it's kind of permanently locked into it's location.
