Golf recommendations near Niles, MI

Going to be here on work for next several  weeks and looking for recommendations on where to golf within a 30 minute drive. Thanks!

Blackthorn and the Warren course in South Bend. Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, MI. 

 

Woodland Course at Whittaker near New Buffalo isn't bad.

I'll be in South Bend, in near future and will likely get one round in. The Warren course is nearer to our lodging...but, I spotted a muni near Mishawaka, Eberhart-Petro. Looks to have some character and your shots will cross the river 3 times before the round is up. Any advice to try vs avoid this muni?

Sorry, I haven't played that one. I've played Juday Creek. It's OK, but not in the same league as Warren or Blackthorn.

Play the Warren. 

 

Although they recently lost their pro, manager, and super, so I'm not sure what's going on there with the leadership and the University.

Lake Michigan Hills in Benton Harbor is another option, though it's a tier below Harbor Shores and the two in South Bend (afaik).  A little less spendy than Harbor Shores at least.  Whittaker Woods is also pretty pricey if I recall correctly.

I was at Notre Dame back in the mid 70's.  Eberhart was not anything special.  Blackthorn is well worth the $$.

Go to Warren or see if someone can get you on Knollwood, Morris Park, or SBCC.

Hampshire is closer to Niles and is a decent track.  Blackthorn and Warren are terrific.

Indian Lake Hills in Eau Claire.  A straight shot North of Niles maybe 15 minutes.  27 holes.  North 9 is fun.  Original 9 is a short course with small greens cut into the woods on the side of Indian Lake.  We've got a house on the Lake and play here often.  Fun course usually in decent shape for $50

Played Eberhart-Petro GC in South Bend, IN today. Opened in 1929, updated to a full 18 track in '49. Small greens, narrow tree lined fairways, and you get to tee across the St Joseph River 3 times from the whites...4 times from the tips. Really nice all around conditions for only $30. Thanks to the posters for helping me to pick a track with character...Eberhart was certainly good for that. Here is a pic from tee box on hole 18. Today, I lost 3 balls to the golf gods, and still shot below my index(and with borrowed clubs)! Recommended.
