Yes all the wedges seemed to sit pretty low to the ground.  I would go with the highest bounce you can stand.  It’s always nice to have a little bailout room on it.

I’ll touch on this in a lot more detail in a future post but… That didn’t work for me. I’ve always played the highest bounce wedge that had the relief that in the areas I wanted. I followed the exact same train of thought that “a little bailout room” would be beneficial. Instead, it was detrimental to my game and caused the wedge to bounce (go figure) rather than glide through the turf. In my case, the bounce was a bad thing and was causing very inconsistent contact. With a higher than needed bounce, the club needed to enter the turf at the ideal moment, a touch early, or a touch late, were both equally dead (for slightly different reasons). Once I had the correct bounce (and grind for the shots I wanted to hit) in my hands things became much easier and I was able to get significantly more aggressive with my shots. I can’t wait to get these into the bag and be able to work with them a bit more. I’m sure that given a little time I’ll be able to get them to come alive even more so than earlier in the week. Primarily because I know that I’ve got the correct bounce in my hands this time around and I don’t need to worry about the adverse affects of having too much bounce.

So yes, to me definitely a noticeable different in spin around the greens. We hit shots from 70yds with a 58/60 the full shots. We then went to the short game area for chips and pitches. Honestly the spin, launch and carry numbers didn't different a huge amount from my current SM8 58M, Greg actually said my numbers were ideal and almost to the number the same as Colin's (humble brag). What I did find was that they were more consistent getting away from the M grind. Turf interaction was much cleaner, you could really feel the club enter and exit much quicker. And as I stated previously, the feel off of the face was much better. Softer and more solid.

Where I really think the raw face technology and the raised ridges shined was chips and pitches. Was easily able to hit the 20yd one hop stop pitches with the MG3 where I wasnt able to with the SM8. Keep in mind some of that may be related to the bounce as well. Cleaner turf interaction = cleaner contact = more spin.

I’m a long time M Grind player. What did you go with in the MG3?  Curious about the improved turf interaction.

I ended up going SB in all wedges. It’s something I wouldn’t not have noticed had I not done the fitting and hit them

back to back but the M was very clunky and draggy through the turf where the SB in the MG3 just got in and out. Most noticeably on the 70yd shot.

It's pretty awesome to work with fitters that understand attack angle and sole geometry.  Getting "tools" that work for how you deliver the clubhead at impact sure helps when it comes to shot predictability and consistency.

Congratulations to all of you that were selected to make the trip.

That would have been a great idea. Sorry, I didn’t get any at address photos. I can say that they’re slightly bigger than my baby blades. That’s not helpful though. I’ll be sure to snap a few pics when mine shows up.

Anyone have an Orange County fitter they can recommend? TM doesn’t have any upcoming events and every other fitter is indoor, I would really like this to be outdoor.

Thanks in advance!

I would call and setup a fitting at the @TaylorMade GolfKingdom in Carlsbad.    Short little trip from the OC!

I’ve been sick today but a box did arrive so I drug myself out of bed to do an unboxing. Here are a few pics. Notice the telltale signs of a loft/lie machine. Combine that with head weight stickers to the tenth of a gram and this is obviously not an OTR set of wedges!

Here's the 46 MG3 PW (right) compared to my ZX5 set PW.  It's definitely not as forgiving as my set PW but it's not supposed to be.  Where it may lack in forgiveness, it definitely makes up for it in versatility.  Before, I'd use my 60, 55, and 50 but NEVER my set PW around the greens but with the new 46, I would definitely use this around the green in the right situation.

I still need to get some full swing numbers on the new 46 to see if it fills the gapping.

I can honestly say that these are the best wedges I've EVER had in my bag - HANDS DOWN.  Knowing that I have the right set makeup, bounce, shafts, etc just instills confidence and I feel like I can get after ever shot.

But even beyond the mental side, the turf interaction I'm getting on both short and full shots is noticeable and something I never felt on my previous RTX4s.  Before I'd never really never take full swings with my 60 degree, now I'm aggressive knowing the club won't dig/skip  into the ball.

As for performance, I played 9 holes before I got rained out.  I had 4 up and down saves for par - which is great but also horrible cause I couldn't hit a green.  But that's another issue these wedges can't fix.  🙂
