Good Friend Tim Hogarth medalist at 10-under after the two stroke-play rounds to determine who moves on to match play. Flawless, bogey-free 7-under 65 today. Have played a lot of golf with and against Tim over the years -- especially so in the last several.

Jeff Knox (yes, that Jeff Knox) is in the field and onto match play. Chip Lutz, Gene Elliott, Jeff Wilson, Casey Boyns, Mike McCoy, Randy Haag, Bob Royak, and so many other great senior ams making the cut. Also of note, 2-time world long drive champion, Art Sellinger, was in the field, though he missed the cut with rounds of 76, 75.

One more year and I turn 55. Hope to have a few decent years of golf left in me. Playing in the U.S. Senior Am would be amazing.

Pretty cool that you have connections with several of the players who played in this year's US Senior Amateur.  I am pulling for Jeff Knox, just because!   🙂   If he can beat Rory McIlroy at the Masters then that is good enough for me!  😁

Good Bud Sean Knapp, who took the title in 2017 and fell just short of a repeat in '18 with a runner-up finish, is seeded 3rd heading into today's MP. Trust me when I say that the boys from Cali are gonna have their hands full if they share the tee with Sean over the next couple of days!!

It's one thing to go low in Medal when it's you against the course~

It's a whoooooole nother game when it's you against the Man on the tee with ya, especially when that Man's been there, Won that😊

All the Best Brotha👊

Tim had his hands full this morning, as I'm sure that he wasn't expecting a sudden death outa the gates(21 holes).

Jeff's also in a match at 2 up through 12

Sean's off to a good start, 4 under through 9 and 5 up in the March. One thing that he will not do is take his foot off the pedal.

Cheers🍻

Hogarth got beaten by another SoCal guy and good friend, Kory Frost. Kory is a very good player, but I did NOT expect that today.

WoW, only one of the Top-5 along with two of the Top-10 remain😬, with ten of the sixteen coming in seeded #30-58.

WOW!!

@isaacbm and I have discussed this ad nauseam and that is that one, at the Uber Elite/Pro level, on any given day, anything can happen, and secondly, as someone noted earlier in the thread, while the great shots, scores & seedings give guys the willies, goose bumps & heebie jeebies for the evening prior, Match Play is a whoooooole different kinda game.

Cheers🍻

2 years behind you. My first year of eligibility is 2024 at The Honors Course. I played the Mid there in 2005 so would like to do a repeat of sort. I've only recently started playing again tho so long way to go.

Looks like Elliott is in a tight match again, and if he wins Craig Davis (so must be familiar to you California folks?) would await him - it was Davis who beat Gene in the playoff for the Senior British Am in 2019.

I don't know, but assume, most of these high level ams that spend a lot of time traveling and competing in these quality tournaments know each other pretty well.

Paul Jett was the superintendent at the Duke University course. I worked for him while in school at NC State. He was also at Pinehurst #2 for the first two US Opens. A very good guy to work for. Tough, but very fair. I learned a lot, and enjoyed working for him. Obviously a very good player.

I adore douchebags🥰 and have Played with my share😉

I would love to know his name and it won't leave our PM thread if you are so inclined, lol

I'll even go first~

Freddy was a DBaG!!

One that a lot of peeps rag on, though I really don't think that most of em have ever even met the guy, much less Played with him, but he was a Prince and NOT a DBaG, was Curtis!

Also, the Towering Inferno was fine, I didn't see the *sshole side of him that so many speak of, though he is wrapped tighter than any Player that I've ever Played with and I fully expect him to just explode one day & either have a massive MI or a stroke, lol.

Cheers🍻

I got to play with Robert Funk this year at the NCGA Am…. What a player!

I have played 200+ rounds with Robert. I can compete with them all day long on soft greens. But firm greens on a long course, he beats me 8.5 out of 10 times.

He is the guy that got me to change my entire putting set up and mentality. He didn't even start playing golf until he was 26 years old. Love the dude. 🙂

What a fun match to follow just on scorecards (wish there was coverage)! Elliott wins the last two holes and wins 1 up.  Thanks for putting a thread up about this!

You can't really make him (and caddie wife) out walking off the tee in the distance, but here's the new U.S. Senior Open Champ on the famous 13th, "The Pit" at North Berwick a couple of years ago.  Just thought an actual pic of a golf hole would dress up the thread a little and it's kind of relevant, lol.

I've always asked people who say Strange is a jerk for an example of why they say that.  The crickets continue to multiply to this day.

Strange SEEMS like a jerk (more smug if say) by the way he talks on the broadcasts. Plus that Tiger interview didn’t do him any favors. This is just my opinion, please dont call me a “hater”
