What is makes your bag an unorthodox/quirky set-up?

The top of my bag has always been a cluster****. I can't even look at a hybrid to save my life, but do well with iron designs...but also need something high launching...but also need a little more forgiveness than a 15* 3W.... but also want a dedicated tee club. This conundrum led me to my current set-up, which I'm hoping will last me for sometime. I play mostly parkland courses, with some short par4's and occasionally gusty conditions. After several rounds of trial and error, the top of my bag now goes: D, 16.5 3HL, 18* 2u, 21* 5HL (cut 1"), 5i. I haven't (with my own eyes) see another bag with a DI between fairway woods. What about your bag makes it quirky?

My bag is a dog's breakfast of used clubs that I have picked up as I needed. Exception being the irons which were a used set I picked up en masse after falling in love with a wedge I had gotten previously.

That's not so quirky!

7 brands, 2 drivers - older one is longer with fade, newer is a little shorter with draw - 5W, different set 3 iron as DI, 4 utility or hybrid, 5 iron normally out of bag, players 6-PW, different set GW, GI wedges (CBX).  And you don't see many Cure putters around.  Waiting for challengers to bring the quirk....

Oh man I missed the three 8 irons post.  Love the setup @A-A-RonCCC.  If it works it works!

Playing all graphite shafts, three 8 irons (29* T400, 33* T300, 38* AP2), followed by 24* and 27* hybrids, a 7 wood and a mini driver all with JumboMax XL grips.  I'm trying to make the bag as easy as possible to play and it has resulted in some relatively unique selections which I would partially attribute to my index going from 20 to 13 this year.

The three 8 irons, albeit with different lofts, is a really novel approach. 8 iron is such a fun and easy to hit club. Your 8 irons are probably close in shaft length?  I could see how this set up would work out well and be really consistent for the approach shots.

Congratulations on dropping from 20 to 13 in one year!

Most of the time I play this set up:

Driver, 16.5 fairway wood, 20 degree hybrid, 5-P, 50 degree low bounce, 56 degree low bounce, 58 degree low bounce, putter.

So the gapping in my wedges is odd but I don't get along with 60 degree wedges and I found I can use the 50 and  56 degree for a lot of different shots.

Most of the time, I will play with  13 clubs but if I play a course which has genuine sand, instead of the packed clay that I usually encounter on the pastures I frequent, I will throw in a 54 or 56 with moderate bounce.

I carry two 6-irons. A Mizuno JPX 919 HotMetal at 26* and a Cobra Tour Forged at 28.5*.  Some times on my course I need the in between lofts for shots from 150-160 yds, depending on the slope and the wind.

The HM has a Recoil F3 shaft, the Cobra an Accra Tour 80 R.

I can't beat three 8-irons.  But I've got a 1° gap between 4 utility iron and 4 hybrid (no 5 iron); and three different iron shafts in my set: Modus 120 8i-AW, Modus 105 6i-7i, i95 4U.

Quirkiest thing is that it's always in a state of flux ... I'm always tweaking something, and if that tweak works then it often means tweaking something else to fit better as a set. Latest victim is hybrid shaft ... After getting iron shafts that are less butt stiff, I needed to switch out of the very butt stiff counter balanced KBS Prototype to a somewhat more even feeling and weighted project x evenflow black. This season so far I have changed driver shafts 1x, switched 3 wood entirely, switched hybrid loft and now shaft, I'm on my 4th set of irons , added another wedge, and swapped shafts on the other two. Putter is the only thing I've been really comfortable with for something like 5 years now.

I'm trying out JumboMax Md right now? How are you liking them so far? I wear a Med. glove and started with Midsize CP2 Pro's and have thrown the JM on 9-50* and D so far to try them out. I love the ones on my three irons, but still need more work to be comfortable with the driver. That said, all of my Midsize's now feel like undersize.

When I first got into playing a few years ago, I think I had a Cleveland CG4 PW, CG11 52*, an older Vokey 58* and a CG11 60*. I didn't know much about wedge gapping at the time haha

Reading this I don't have too quirky a set up in regards to having different clubs, etc. However I have some quirky loft gaps. I have 10.5° driver, 15° 3 wood, 17.5°-23°-26° hybrids, 6-AW irons (28°-50°), 56° gi sand wedge, to 64° sgi wedge (smartsole/sureout style). I've gone the route of a couple specialized clubs bought for fairly specific purposes. I originally bought the 17.5° hybrid specifically for one hole on my home course, but it's been very useful in many situations. The 64° wedge however has a very specific purpose. I will only use it when greenside and tight pins. I've tried using it a few times for longer shots but I have very little distance control.

I go driver, 15  wood, 21 wood (plus 3/4”), 22 hybrid, 25 hybrid (5 iron length with same shaft as my irons), ping i210 6 iron and x forged 7-p.  All graphite shafted including the irons.  For most of this year I had two 6 irons (one was epic forged that played as my 5 iron).  I like wacky set ups.
