Gen4 is $219 Heroes and if I had bought these 3-6 months ago Id be POed.   Gen3 now $129 Heroes and no more Gen2

The G4 ST is only about three weeks into production.  Bought them right away and now with the price drop bought some more of the same.....can't hurt to have duplicates!

🤪

And they look and perform great next to my G4 T which I also bought two weeks ago at higher prices and arrive tomorrow.

Don't be PO'ed buy PXG!!

I was thinking about this on my hour long drive home last night after being fitted at PXG Chicago and buying a Gen 4 0811 X.

When PXG started, 2014-2015, they obviously marketed themselves as having high quality, highly engineered, high cost, products. Everyone knew they had a couple Ping guys there. They had immediate credibility. Now, we see super low prices and tons of people are scratching their heads wondering WTH happened. Maybe this was the plan all along (maybe not)? You bring out products that no one can question their quality (because of price really) and engineering, gain credibility, then flip the script and offer those same products much cheaper than your competitors.

1. If PXG came out first with low budget equipment I'm not sure they would've been taken seriously. And they might not have been able to startup a new business on a high volume/lower margin business plan. A lot more risk with that, especially if they don't get immediate credibility.

2. If we're all honest, drivers (and most equipment) hasn't improved hardly any since PXG was founded in 2014. Many youtubers have done videos where they show drivers from 2015-2017-2019 keeping right up there with the latest and greatest (as long as you're properly fit). Often times within 1-3 yards. We're mostly splitting hairs these days and a lot of it is just optimizing through fitting. Is the 2021 Sim2 really that much better than the 2017 M1 or M2 drivers (if properly fit)? Is the 2021 Callaway Epic Speed really that much better than the 2017 GBB Epic? The answer is no.

3. We consumers are paying $550 for new drivers and most of it is marketing gimmicks. Imagine if TM and Callaway were both making something very-very similar to the M1/M2 and GBB Epic in 2021 (same tooling, same lines that have been enhanced/made more efficient/etc.) I'm sure they could be churning them out and selling them for $249-299. But they don't want to. They need to completely reinvent themselves every 2-3 years to keep their premium price tag relevant. Again, if TM just tweaked their M1/M2 lines a little bit every year but kept the tooling, production... everything else the same, how cheap could they be selling those drivers today?

That's the TaylorMade model, although they've toned it down a bit.

At least PXG isn't promising 7 more yards with each new model....LOL

All of the OEM's are definitely guilty of hyping up their new clubs each year when we all know that it really isn't that different from the previous year's model.

At least TM (and all the others) don't start out charging $200 - 300 for a single iron though.

By going Direct to Consumer, they are able to make the same amount of money while charging significantly less. They've spent years building a brand and now are about to reap the benefits. New Level and Sub 70 are starting to get real traction and they have Zero money compared to Bob Parsons.

I think Doug Barrons on the Senior Tour is playing Sub 70. Never did see his bag but his caddy was wearing a Sub 70 hat

LOL  Those of us in the Southern USA take pride in destroying the Queen's English. We have a family in church from New Zealand and I can understand them fine. In fact the Grandmother I got her to watching the LPGA because of Lydia Ko--- Granny does not play golf and neither do any of the family but she loves Lydia

Guys, recognize, the only demographic who have any idea who PXG is, are GolfWRX members or watch Golf Channel. The average daily fee golfer has no idea who PXG is or seen one of their clubs. The optics based on where you golf and who you golf with correlates to a group think. You do recognize their are many golfers who still feel $299 for a driver is a lot of money for their budget. JMO

Yeah, I play in a golf league where half the members have equipment is that 15+ years old, some 25+ years old. A high handicapper that I play with who has decent swing speed for a 60 year old plays a steel shafted 3 wood that has the small metal head from the early 90's. It amazes me that he wouldn't buy a used 3 wood that is 5-10 years old for $25.

This is usually completely lost on the wrx community and how much reach/pull they think they have in reality.  When in reality, they are but MAYBE 2% of the golfers in NA, let alone the world...

There is likely more people playing this month that have a full bag of 10-12+ year old gear than the entire wrx community times 5...

I've been hitting my Cobra Amp with stock Fujikara shaft for 4 yrs and love it.  Only new stick since then was a Scotty Newport 2.  Wasn't looking for any change then saw the Aug sale for PXG drivers so for $299 what the heck (but didn't see the $30 shipping).  Got to say, ordered Friday, got today and the packaging was excellent, double boxed for just the driver.  Yes I was thinking that PXG was a premium brand based on earlier prices but $299 for a 2021 tech club was worth a shot.  We'll see this weekend.  PXG has discounted prices (which will lead to lowering price expectations in future) but its not like when Hogan irons went from the premium brand to the "name" brand at some discount place like KMart (that happened right?)

New PXG customer here- Been renovating so I've yet even played a round with my new Gen 2 0311XF irons, putter and wedges. Only reason I changed brands was the huge price drops they've been having and will continue to have. One major turn-off though is the continuation of price drops- My irons went from $129 each down to $89 each. The did give me store credit so I'll applaud them for that but then I decided to get a lob wedge, didn't want to pay $169 and ridiculous shipping so I found one on the bay. Looked today and the wedges are now $129...Same price I paid for used.

Resale value is something of importance to me and others, I'm sure. If I dumped my clubs today, probably couldn't get what I paid for them just 2 months ago. Just saying, their business model now is really turning me away from the brand and I've yet hit a ball with my new set-up.

All of wrx wants to know exactly what brand holds 100% of value after two months of play. 😏

Since he stated hasn’t played a round with them or even hit a ball, his disappointment hardly seems unwarranted. Would be nice if people actually read the post before posting a sarcastic response.

The pricing model (schemes) that PXG uses has made me avoid seriously considering the clubs. $800 drivers (vanilla shaft), then exhausting that revenue model, they come back down to reality, when people realize that an $800 driver does not perform better than a $499 driver.

What is that old saying? A fool and his money are soon departed.

I am really disappointed how PXG devalues their current generation of irons, drivers and Sugar Daddy wedges.  Really bad business practice and I doubt I will purchase their product again.   Makes you wonder if they have financial issues.  Premium companies like PXG once was, just don’t do that.

I have a full set of everything current PXG and think I might be done with them.  I know most golf companies lower their prices, but not to the extent PXG has since Covid and it is even worse this year.   Sure operating like a company with financial issues and not one with the premium product.
