2022 Ping Hoofer?

Recommended Posts

Any idea when the 2022 Ping Hoofers will be marketed/released?

My understanding is that this year in the cycle should be a new design rather than just new colors, and I'm hoping they change to full length dividers as club tangle is a huge pet-peeve of mine and I've heard the 2020/2021 models have been dreadful in that regard.

I'm in the market for a new bag and that's the one concern I have about getting a Hoofer bag.  I see some of the comments about pulling clubs out of the bag when its in "hoofer" mode.  My current Taylor made stand bag's separators only go perhaps half-way down the bags length and I have no problem pulling clubs.  Usually Ping products are well though out but this concerns me.  Is it a real problem or simply more internet overstatements?

Also - how many separators are at the top on the standard Ping Hoofer.

Thanks for any comments.

I've had a Hoofer Lite for over a year now and don't find the tangle to be an issue at all. I both ride and walk, and honestly the only time I've ever had a club get "stuck" is maybe once a round when I'm putting it back into the bag while the bag is on the ground with the stand engaged. I say "stuck" because the reality is that it goes about 3/4 of the way in, and then as soon as I pick up the bag to put it on my shoulders it drops all down into place.

The only time I could see people having major issues is if they use jumbo size grips. Then again I think with those you'd have a tangle problem with anything smaller than a staff bag.

Standard Hoofer comes in 5-way and 14-way top variations. Hoofer Lite has a 4 way top.

Thanks for the responses.  I couldn't imagine all the college players using Ping Hoofers with tangle problems.  As I said in my earlier post I've found Ping to produce well designed products.  Just goes to show people with an internet nitpick will make it confusing for others. Since you can't really road test a bag in the store this is good info.  I'll get a bag this week.

The dividers behave exactly like any full length dividers.  They go about 80% down plus they are connected to the bottom by multiple tight spandex bands/clips.  In other words, the dividers have nothing to do with the tangle, and the dividers are as good as full length.

The base mechanism is what causes the tangle as it pushes the wedge grips up and towards the middle of the bag.  It is only a slight amount of tangle vs a Sun Mountain, for example.

Glad to hear the club tangle may be over exaggerated in other posts. My main concern was that a number of reviews on the Ping site as well mention this issue and it drives me crazy.

Any idea or thoughts on if the 5-way or 14-way divider is worse re: club tangle?

If full-length dividers aren’t likely for the 2022 bag, any idea when we’ll hear more about what changes we will see? When are these typically announced/released.

I've never had a 14 way, but I've read that the 14 way is much worse.  I could see that being the case as the way I work around the tangle is to sometimes lift up the clubs in the wedge section all at once, or lift the clubs together in the section I'm putting a club into simultaneously and I could see that being harder with a 14 way.

My prediction: uglier and further away from the old school ping hoofer design everyone loved. And by the price increases we are seeing from Ping they will probably be close to the price of a Vessel bag lol.

Some sarcasm in my prediction, but probably some truth as well.

I think the 2020 bags were a move in right direction for looks, and some of the limited bags have been great, so optimistic for 2022.  Since 2016 the bags have been real solid as far as design/build, so expect more of the same there.

I would disagree but that’s the beauty of opinions. I won’t say the quality has decreased because I think they’re still well made, I just prefer older Hoofers at the moment or even the mascot version many collegiate teams have used. I switched to a Titleist players 4 for the first time which is a great bag but just weird for me.

The current mascot version is just the 2018 Hoofer Lite customized.  Prior to that they were basically 2016 4 Series bags, just a change in the water bottle pocket location.

Edit- the newer mascot bags are now the 2020 Hoofer Lite.  Fooling around with customizer, might order something like this...

Agreed. Hate the style and color combos of recent years Hoofers, particularly 2020-2021 models. Quality has only continued to approve however.

How exactly does this customizer work after you have designed a bag? Do you have to order a minimum amount of bags? Where do you take or place the order for it?

Have long loved the camo look, would love to get a black camo bag

Need to place the order through a retail account, last I heard the minimum order was 3 bags and I think there's some fees involved (eg, set up fee, embroidery).
