I’m a beginner and let me just say these swing speeds are making me feel completely inadequate. Hopefully one day I’ll get there!

Some of them are probably a little exaggerated

Back in my beginnner days, I used to think I was one of the longer hitters.  Part of my thinking was because I'd never run into anyone longer, another part of that feeling came from comments from friends or family members who played.

Met my first golf forumite in my second year of playing.  He was longer than me, with the crowning touch being a tee shot where he flew my tee shot by 50 yards.  With a 3 wood, and a Titleist Professional.  I was sitting in fairway with 135 left on a 400 yd par 4, it's not like I'd bunted it; my driver speed in those days was pretty consistent at 110.

He wasn't the longest hitter I've encountered among golf forum members, just here in Minnesota.  Or top three.

My point....  what you see on your local course has no bearing on the overall golf nerd landscape, across WRX and other forums.  Get out and meet some of these peeps.  They can play, and they can bring it.

disclaimer:  I have no doubt there are some here who are making scheist up, but based on my experience, it's the vast minority.

I haven't seen anything like that.  Admittedly, I don't pay much attention to the e-peen waving.  😉

Played to a 9.0 on the GHIN this year.

103 - 105 swing speed

58 years old

Callaway Chrome Soft XLS.

Tried the Taylormade Tour Response ball and had very similar results as the Cally.  Was given a sleeve of Vice Drive balls.  Beside rolling out a bit more on shots into the green, they feel and play as well as the Cally or TM...for me.   The Vice Drive actually feels better off the putter, for me!  But not going there.  Can't see myself playing a $12 per dozen ball.

Irons: Cleveland ZipCore XL (5-AW)

Putter: Toulon Memphis

Guilty.  poor green reading, tough lie bad chipping. inconsistent swings into water or OB.

Yep.  I can putt really well, 3 putts are rare and I can bury some long ones for 1, but chipping and losing strokes to hazards and OB are an issue.  I can consistently drive it 265-275 but if it's not in the fairway it doesn't help.  My home course is such that you get penalized greatly for not keeping it in the fairway.  Stray 15 feet off the fairway left or right and your ball is gone.
