Ventus black vs ventus black hybrid question.

Recommended Posts

How would you even achieve the same weight?  Heaviest Ventus Black wood shaft is 85g at 46".  Lightest Ventus Black hybrid shaft is 96g at 42".  Trimming the wood shaft shorter is only going to make that weight gap bigger.

There is a 9x black ventus and a 9x black hyrbid.

Lets assume I made them both 41 inches........what would the difference be between the 2 ?

Hybrid shafts are often made with slightly different profiles and/or different strengths given the weight of the heads they are likely to be in. Also obviously the .335 tip size vs. .370. If for some reason you think you want to put the Ventus Black wood shaft in a hybrid, I wouldn't bother. It will just cost you a lot more and you'd have to shim it to fit a hybrid/driving iron.

Id imagine he is wanting to put a hybrid shaft in a wood… since its 150 dollars cheaper

Thanks guys …. I have a black 9x wood shaft in a 5 wood and instead of buying the hybrid version was just gonna put the 5 wood shaft in my 18 degree hybrid and for the life of me can’t find anywhere on the Fuji website what the difference would be .

When talking about head weight , I assume a hybrid head is quite a bit lighter than a fw wood head .?

Thanks .

You could easily sell the fairway shaft and buy a brand new hybrid shaft and new adaptor.

Hybrid heads normally weigh more than fairway heads.

No the fairway adaptor will not work in the hybrid.

The reverse actually. Uncut 46" wood shafts have a tip section that allows for them to be cut to suit the normal headweight range from driver to higher lofted fairway wood. The lightest 2-hybrid is still going to be heavier than even the heaviest driver head, so the shafts are always going to be built differently to account for these weight "starting points".

Which brings up another questions , will a titleist FW adapter fit into a hybrid head ? I thought it would.......?

The Titleist fairway adaptor actually does fit in the hybrid and Steve Stricker has been doing it for years. @ForTourUseOnly actually spotted that in Stricker's WITB thread from a few years back:

You can see the slightly mismatched connection between the first cog and the head. I don't reckon he'd take the chance of this failing during play if he didn't have it on decent authority that this was safe to do. It kinda opened up a lot of Titleist hybrid possibilities for me since I can use the same shafts i'd use in equivalent or slightly adjacent woods.

Not sure I would recommend doing this but it does work

I think Patrick Cantlay does the same, he plays a ZF 80tx in his hybrid which is a wood shaft

I was thinking that might be the case as well, but I didn't want to assume that the shaft wasn't shimmed into a Titleist hybrid adaptor, or a custom made shaft for him.
