Pins and skins, do you tip the pro?

A semi private actually closer to public course. Blocked out tee times for those that commit. $40 per man, usually around 24 players. $960 in the pot. 

4 par three all closest to the pin and then birdie skins only- Pars don't count. Total number of pins and skins is usually 10 or greater with pay out per of around 60-$100.

 

The pro takes in all the money and distributes the winnings.

 

Question? Do you tip the pro? if so how much (%) ? or do you but only when you win multiple skins/pins

I'm at a private club so others who frequently play public/semi-private courses may have a different opinion, but to me a head pro job isn't really one that is tipped. They aren't exactly raking in the cash, but they are usually salaried positions and make a good bit more than everybody else at a golf club. 

 

FWIW I've never tipped my pro for anything. I did get him a nice bottle of bourbon for getting me on a private club in another city once.

The pros are professionals so generally do not get tipped, especially if they are the ones running the pins and skins game.  This is simply part of their job to drive play and revenue.

 

The few exceptions are if the pros are helping out a group run their own game over the course of a year/season or something else truly out of the ordinary.  Our club has a few member run golf groups, and the pros help out with scorecards and other logistical issues.  For that I can see an end of year monetary collection or case of wine or some other token of appreciation.

 

We also have a huge pool during the Member/Guest that the pros help out with.  Part of the buy-in goes to the pros for having to deal with 120 drunken golfers over 3 days.

 

But for regular outings or Saturday tournaments, no tip.
