Anyone Have An Idea of What TM’s Driver Plans Are for 2022?

I agree. I also find it really hard to believe that $800 US amount.

Anybody with a Ventus or Graphite Design shaft is basically spending that for a driver. I wish they would bump the price a little, shaft every driver with a premium shaft, lower their manufacturing expense for those shafts, and then pass it down to the consumer.

Everybody wins, besides us when they don't do that and we still shell out the $$$ for the newest gear with price increases like a bunch of junkies anyway.

I get all that. But people are saying the prices will go back down when supply chain issues are fixed. To that I say bullocks. This is the new norm.

100%  What big company ever dropped prices when their costs went down?  Big companies love to use this stuff to raise prices and then end up just keeping them there.

Maybe.  But, at what point are prices supposed to normalize?  They are making these new drivers right now with inflated costs.  Are they just supposed to eat it?  And, the situation is a lot more complicated that just cost of goods going up.  Labor is at a shortage and good luck shipping anything overseas.  The cost of sending a container across the ocean has risen sharply.

Point taken.  One question though, is there a labor shortage in China and Vietnam?  I know we have a lot of people not wanting to work, but I am not sure this is true in the Asian countries.

Just saying, if the price of $699 (U.S.) is a real number, I am having a difficult time justifying the size of the price increase.

Perhaps TM needs to go back to multiple price points in their products (i.e. R series and Burner).  Just a thought.

Or just offer a head only option so we can put our already bought premium shaft in the new head...

I can see pxg going this route in the future...

Correct. But when people stop buying them prices will go down or they will go broke

I think TM came in and squashed that number.  I am speculating, but assuming we will be looking at roughly $600.  And I agree that the multiple price point makes sense.  Maybe we'll see Sim2 stick around for a while to capture the "lower priced" market.

They already do that some. You could go to some places and buy an M2 off the rack

PXG has pretty much shown ridiculously priced clubs still sell.  Golf is one of those sports where a lot of guys/gals who play it have expendable income, they have a long way to go before they hit the go broke part.  I honestly think all these manufactures could release drivers at $1000 next year and be fine.

Thin walls afford designers additional leeway in distributing mass to more strategic locations within the club head. In addition, the use of a lighter composite face plate in place of a more traditional metal face plate creates additional mass savings that can be distributed advantageously elsewhere.

Eh?

Trying not to!  There's a reason you're seeing guys like Sub70 gain some traction.  I think you'll begin to see a lot of direct to consumer grow over the next few years as the big guys raise their costs.

Agreed, I can't believe we live in the reality where we had wedges with no grip before the option to order driver heads from the factory. That solves everything.

The patent pics also show what appears to be a weight track behind the face, parallel to the face.

Sure looks like it or could be an R1 redo. haha.

Maybe if they make the weight flatter, they can keep it lower to help improve CG?  I dunno haha.  I just love the pre-launch speculation though.  Fun stuff imagining what may be on the horizon.

There seems to be quite a bit of talk around reduced MOI due to a low/forward CG. SLDR anyone?

All measurements from the center of the face. Z is vertical, Y is horizontal increasing toward the rear of the club. As I understand it, the Y axis relates closely to an MOI measurement, right?

CG of head 1 is higher and farther back (higher MOI, more spin)

CG of head 2 is closer to the face, but lower (low spin bomber with less MOI)

image.jpeg.c367d3bbb1c6f8bba0c20dbacbda3753.jpeg

According to Figure 16, it looks like the 3 new designs have the lowest ratio of vertical-to-horizontal CG they have designed? Not sure exactly what this means in practice...

For example, take head 2 from the chart above and increase the CGy to 40mm

-10/40 = -0.25 -> Presumably a dramatic MOI increase with little impact on spin?

Now drop the CGz to -15mm and increase CGy to 60mm

-15/60 = -0.25 -> Presumably another dramatic MOI increase with even lower spin? Yet the ratio remains the same.

Obviously I'm just making numbers up, but only to illustrate that I don't understand what's going on with this calculation. If possible it would be nice for someone to explain the impact of this ratio in plain English. This one confuses me.

1) The point is, regardless of Currency, that increase is way too much.  Anything in increase in excess of 10% is price gouging. The 2022 model drivers need to start with a 5 in the U,S

2) As someone on here stated, they say prices are suppose to get back to normal during 2022.  The problem is, once these OEMs raise their prices, they never come back down.

1) Nope
