Anyone Have An Idea of What TM’s Driver Plans Are for 2022?

That "Composite Face" appeared to be a major bust in that Gloire line I can't imagine it would be a hit over here but then again it is TM.

Didn't hear much about the results of it, but considering it was about $1500 and designed for high launch, slower swings, and a closed face.  It was probably aimed at a very small specific group.  Definitely would not appeal to a WRX'r.  I am eager to see what it's about.  I'm not surprised to see carbon faces making a comeback.  It will probably sound pretty cool too.  I haven't hit a composite face since the Yonex days.

Found this while searching for previously released driver with composite faces.... could be an iron, but it says club of a volume of at least 200cc.

True but you still catch the face in the follow through and other angles. I just don't know why you would do a red face otherwise. Maybe I'm in the minority on that.

I'm of the same mind as you.

Yonex did all carbon woods a looooong time ago. Maruman did all ceramic around the same time if I remember correctly. I remember wanting both badly, but they were super expensive.

I'm sure whatever this is will perform light years better than those woods, though.

Sim2 was fully composit.

Composit means nothing unless you list out what material is where.

Red face...I'll buy one and call it Yosemite Sam

I think the only negative besides price on composite face drivers is the danger of getting any debris between the ball and the face at impact.  Need to clean those range balls reeeeeally well.

The Yonex fairways were one of my favorites.  They were pretty easy to hit off the fairway.

ok so i saw the new TM today in person, someone was hitting it on the range where I am a member (my pro and 2 tm reps standing there) The name will be Taylormade Stealth, red and black scheme and there is an adjustable weight track. The face is red, looks like a bunch of small red ovals on the face similar to the bottom of the sim og on the heel but just red. I heard the tm rep say 16 layers of carbon fiber, im pretty sure he was talking about the face. I saw the sole and it was all carbon fiber similar to the sim 2 except for the fact that there was a adjustable weight track. Looked tacky and dumb to me but i guess some people will like it…

Only a matter of time before a pic gets posted somewhere…

I got to hit it.  Totally different feel from a Titanium face.  Very very hot.  They can take the CT over 1.5 with this driver.  The face is carbon fiber.

I had no idea that clubs have been made with composite (carbon) faces.  Carbon is strong but very brittle.  Steel and other metals flex.  So does carbon fiber but I believe to a much smaller degree.  I would be amazed if someone on Tour could hit a carbon fiber faced club and it have any longevity.

back in the day there was a Wilson Whale all Carbon and a Midsize Whale with carbon face.

Also Diawa had the G3 Compo irons and woods which had a Carbon insert. A friend had the 3 wood which he used to nail, and I used to enjoy giving it a hit too.

Callaway at one time produced an awful driver called the C4 (released in 2001). Claimed at the time it was the best carbon fiber/carbon composite faced driver ever compared to other carbon composite drivers produced in the 1990's. Slight overreach there.

Was arguably the worst driver ever manufactured by a large OEM in golf history. A complete dud and failure on every level. Callaway couldn't disassociate itself from it fast enough (same as their Tour Blue line of putters). While having the same name as a military explosive (which is not what the C4 stood for) it was short and had an awful sound at impact. Not so explosive.

Think of hitting a golf ball with a camp fire fresh s'more. That was the C4 driver legacy.

And the composite face JDM Gloire line was only from 2014/2015. Funny you knock TM for that but you've kept playing TM drivers per your WITB and associated posts for years.
