Anyone Have An Idea of What TM’s Driver Plans Are for 2022?

It’d be a bummer for Mitsubishi to launch this new Kai’li line and then sell a made-for version to TaylorMade before many people have even gotten to try the real thing.

New user so be kind.

I've heard £500 for the driver in the u.k. The product events in the u.k. were last week but very little information is finding it's way out.

For what it's worth someone that tested the driver that's never impressed with any new tech and said it's ground breaking, off centre hits lose very little distance compared to other drivers.

In the uk Taylormade offers less shaft options than in the usa so for sim2 i think it was a total of 4 real deal shafts with no upcharge. You'd think with the worldwide supply issues the shaft companies could now say for 2022 we're not making this made for crap anymore.

I have heard a lot of accounts are rapidly increasing orders for 2022 based on some of the things you mentioned here.  Excited to hear more about this one.

I am the guy the manufacturers hate. I have been playing a Ping G400 for a few years, ever since I pulled it out of one of the kids extra bags. Hit a TM M6 5 wood and loved it, . Bought a 3,5,7,and 9 all at like new used prices or brand new after they were discontinued. I am willing to buy a new driver, but am leaning towards yet another M6 in 10.5 degree regular flex stock shaft, it has exactly the trajectory I like. Not the longest, but far enough. . Didn't care for any iteration of the SIM I tried.  Hated the Titleists and Callaways. Have yet to hit a Ping G425 with a shaft that I like the window on.

The manufacturers love a guy like you. They get to unload their old inventory at a big profit (with no real marketing expenditures) and wipe it off their balance sheets.

I have just been told my irons due 31/12/21 now. My luck the new model will be out before I even get them. Nice of Taylormade to tell me “only 4 weeks from point of order no problem” in October to now turning end of December. If I had of known that probably would have waited

Can’t you cancel your order?

Yes I could but feel a bit guilty if I do. My club pro went out of his way to send me to taylormade fitting and was super helpful. It’s not his fault he was mis informed. Plus there is the worry that the new stuff will be a lot more or still be long delays

What did you order?

I ordered P790s two weeks ago, on a Monday I think with KBS Tour FLTs that had the shortest wait time. It said a month. I get charged, and they literally arrived on Thursday. The shafts I really wanted, I bought used for less than 80 (Elevate 105s). If the FLTs work out I resell the Elevates. I'd rather just spend the extra than wait months for a set. Could buy a used one for less by that time.

Edit: I do see your post now about the club pro

I ended up going with the sim 2’s budget wouldn’t stretch to the p790 and I couldn’t justify paying almost twice the amount for better feel. In Aus so the p790 came out at $275 a club vs sim 2 $155, over 8 irons works out the be a big  amount

Its probably quite the opposite. The new releases will be what's in stock since it is the priority. Most of the OEM's new driver models are already stocked up ready for January/February releases

New iron heads are available but its still mainly a shaft problem causing big delays. On TM's site the p790's say a stock stiff set is In stock. But if I customize the P790's w/ Modus 120x and GP Align grips it  says scheduled ship date 4/15/2022

Your best bet is to order completely stock and buy shafts separately if you dont want to wait

Those sticks were so unreal at the time. I feel like they were sub 400 grams which is crazy for a 2005 stick. I broke a lot of them though...
