Interesting topic, been thinking about this as well. More curiour about peope's lofts for their choice of wood. Seems 21-22 is about standard, of course, good to have adjustments to gap out better.

Recently struggle a lot with my driver consistency and my 3w is practically a driver at 12 degrees for 250-280yards. 5w is down to 15* for 230-250 yards.

I'm considerring to drop the driver and gap between mt 4iron with a 7w. I'd be going trying to fill the 220 marker, since my 4i can often come up short, depending on the contact and strike.

I really like the Cobra F9 Tour version woods with their front weighting. considering getting another 5-6w and put it at 19*, or go for a lady version head and bring it down from 22.5 to 21*

Also try to weigh up the difference from a 7w to a 2i. not sure which one would be better from (thicker bladed) rough.

I pulled the trigger on another 3-4 wood and decided to use my 5 as a "7":

Cobra F9 Tour Fairway 5-6, set to 20*

ALDILA TOUR GREEN ATX 75 X

Driver SS: ~115, ~270 carry

7w carry: ~225

Length: 40.25"

found an old 915F ladies 7 wood cheap on ebay.  Used that head on the following setup

915F 21deg

Diamana D+ whiteboard 80g stiff tipped 2.5 inches

Driver ss 110

7w carry 225-230

Length 41.5"

It been my best club in the bag, granted I play a very short tight course most weekends.  I am considering getting a stiffer shaft for it.  I also have a callaway Apex UW 21deg that will take a run at the 7wood spot.

I use The Perfect Club 347.

21* of loft but only 39.25" in length.

Launches lower than a tradition 7w, flies 200-210y for me which is basically a 3i/4i replacement.

Way easier to control and great out of rough or sand as well.

I tried other 7w clubs from Ping and Callaway but find they fly too high for me.

F9 cobra with a diamana blue 80TX is the one I should have kept.    Now that I have the bag completely figured out.  The super high launch would be perfect for my needs now. I love the hybrid I have. But.  I have never hit hybrids high. I tend to deloft   them.  I can hit absolute low bullets if I want.  But struggle to  launch one super high , say  over trees etc. i added a great 3 iron , so a low hybrid is kind of redundant now.  Wish I had kept that 7 wood.

Yes.  Very similar to the one I just mentioned.  Really really easy to hit head.

I have a Cobra F8 with an Aldila RIP Phenom 85 and a Callaway Epic Flash with a Diamana Kal’il 80. Both are excellent. The low torque shafts help in a 7 wood which is why I still game the Phenom. Tight and on target. Just built the Callaway. Like the shape of the EF 7 wood.
