LSU had a couple months head start on a HC search, and have basically screwed the pooch with how they've handling it.  Being out maneuvered by other programs.   So they "settle" for an overrated Brian Kelley.  Who's grabbing the big payday while he can, coach a couple more years, then ease on out the door with a lot of cash.    Ha!  Best of luck with that LSU.  Jump on the HC carousel ND and get out your checkbook.

The price tag for poaching/keeping HC's has ramped up exponentially in the last month.  Does ND go after Luke Fickell?  He's accomplished about all he could with Cinci.  And their move to a depleted B12 doesn't have the same cred as it once did.   The chatter was LF would be the next HC at tOSU once Ryan Day left for the NFL.  That scenario may have hit a speed bump now.  With the now current market price for a hot commodity HC now north of a  $100 mil, would be difficult for LF to pass if ND waves at big check at him.

Hey, Urban.  We know you're not happy in Jacksonville.  What's your price to return to the college ranks as our HC?

In retrospect, makes MSU's $95 mil contact extension to HC Mel Tucker (there were LSU rumors) look like a relative bargain.

Anyone happen to watch the Iron Bowl over the weekend? Hell of game IMHO.

Auburn almost beat 'em with a backup quarterback on a broken ankle and virtually no running game. It's going to be a tough road for Bama moving forward, I think.

War Eagle!

I watched! 4 OTs and Bama escaped with a W. One of those wins that feels more like a loss. But a win nonetheless. Best (most entertaining) game of the weekend. Hard to bet against Georgia winning it all at this point.
And yes, yay Auburn for almost winning!!! 🎉🤣

I remember a year in very recent history, 2017 to be exact.......................Auburn beat Georgia

40-17 and then beat Alabama 26-14. Then Georgia turned around and beat Auburn in the

SECship but Alabama wound up as the national champions in a thrilling overtime win when

an unknown freshman, Tua Tagovailoa threw the winning TD pass to another unknown freshman,

Devonta Smith.....to beat.......Georgia. The National Championship Game was in Jan 2018.

I think Alabama has beaten Georgia a few more times since that game.

Georgia is favored by 6 last I looked and with the SECship game in Atlanta being pretty much

a home game for them, all the pressure is on them to win. I think the Tide are kinda enjoying

their underdog status and of course, Nick, as he always does, is praising Kirby and the Dawgs

as a greatly coached, great team with no weaknesses.

I hope an upset is brewing.......................

Wow.  First big test/victim of NIL comes up today.  Quinn Ewers signs with OSU, reclassifies to the 2021 class vs 2022, makes over 1 mil in NIL deals, plays a few snaps and transfers out?

Next few years in college football are gonna be really interesting as NIL funded big market, big donor schools begin to take over.  Anyone surprised Lincoln Riley went to USC?  Lol

Yeah, you can see Alabama gonna have a long day trying to score. But hope they hang tough and make a game out of it.

I don’t know anything about betting but see the spread is 6.5 so seems Alabama is expected to at least hang in there.

Who knows what happens on game day? Couple big plays, timely turnover, bam! It’s a game ; )

EXACTLY. Just one one the reasons I don’t partake in wagering.

That TE on Georgia is a stud. He a freshman?! Reminded me of this guy when he ran through the D for a TD.

Very true, and I thought both  the Geogia tight ends stepped up big in the game. They helped move the chains a great deal in key moments.

I watched every brutal minute, lol.  When we failed on the pass to the fullback in the end zone and settled for a FG the next time down that way then kept holding them several times deep in their territory and came up zilch it was over, then over, then more over.  Agonizing.

But . . . Michigan is really good and glad it was them that whipped us instead of OSU.

You parsed my original comment, thereby missing the sardonic point that was being made.  A zero offensive TD game is considered exciting football.  The storyline being dominating D is back.  No, it was boring.  A similar game in the B1G would be classified as a quaint anachronism.  In the modern, offensively minded era of "light up the scoreboard" style of play.

Of course, playing stout D is still relevant to winning FB games.  Especially when venturing into hostile environments like Kinnick, Camp Randall, Spartan, Ohio, Beaver, Michigan Stadiums in late November.  When climatic conditions turn cold, blustery and miserable.  When stopping the other team from scoring provides the best opportunity to realize a W in those locales and conditions.

Yeah, I seem to recall the thrashing from last year.  Also remember a hard fought and exciting W in the '15 B1G 'Ship game as well.  And something about a double OT loss to the Hawkeyes at Spartan Stadium back in '12.  And redemption in a second half shutout 26-14 win at Kinnick back in '13.

Surmising you may remember this:

Haha, remember this a lot better, as long as we are both Jethro Tull and living in the past!

Ha.  More like Through the Past, Darkly.  Circa 2009.  After the Spartans had taken the lead with 1:37 remaining in the game.

Are we ready to see the playoff expanded yet ?? Surely there were better challengers than Michigan and Cincinnati? Utah looks better than either.   Shame their QB got hurt and then OSU finally got a lead with 4 to go.

Any of the other teams would have looked  just as bad or worse as Michigan/Cincinnati did against Georgia and/or Alabama. :partytime2:  We can shoot for a 9 month season and see which team survives, will be good for the viewers and advertisement agencies but probably not so much the players themselves. Edumancation, classes, injuries and such. The supposed reason for Colleges.

A better idea would be to average the IQs of each team saying one teams average is 88 and the other team's is 98, then then the higher team would start the game with a 10 point advantage. Seems only fair since they are in college and are scholar athletes! 🙃🙃😮

Lol. Oh I agree.  It wouldn’t matter who.  My post was more sarcasm than me thinking that better teams were out there.

In fact.  If an expansion ever happens I suspect that we will see even more sec teams survive to the final 4 , which is the reason I bet it doesn’t happen.
