TP5 question

I’ve been playing proV1’s (and not the prov1x) as my ball of choice but wanted to try the TP5 but I find it spins too much. Does it spin more than a proV1 or is it me ? Would it be possible that a TP5x fits me better even though a proV1 fits me better than a proV1x?

If you’re using the 2021 version, the consensus seems to be that the cover change that was directed at the TP5x to increase its short game stopping ability has had a rather negative effect on the TP5.

IMO don’t conclude that the two have flip flopped. If you want to try a superior TP5, get the 2019. It was and is a great ball.

I was actually shocked at how much I liked the new TP5.  Hasn't knocked the Snells out of the bag quite yet but it's definitely a contender.

I do think the 2021 version of TP5 spins more for me on Woods, for sure. I get plenty of spin on everything so the 19 version actually suits me better through the bag. 
 

The 21 TP5x IMO would be closer to the PROV1 you have been playing in both compression (new version being softer) and spin throughout the bag. The new version had improved on green side spin versus the 19 version and it’s more than likely the one I’ll be playing moving forward.

I’ve been playing ProV1’s all year until I recently switched my driver to a Sim 2 Max and switched my irons to ZX5’s. As a result I needed a wee bit more spin from a ball on those clubs. I played a Ping G425 max driver and spun it more than the sim. The TP5 ball works better for my equipment change.

the TP5 for me is much different than the 2019 version which i loved.....something about the new cover and dimple pattern makes the TP5 balloon for me.......the 2021 TP5x plays a lot better than the 2019 version and may be the better all around ball.....this ball is solid and does everything you need it to, but its sort of "boring" if you will.....the flight is boring, the performance is boring but thats just visual thing for me in terms of trajectory and flight...the TP5 x is a much improved all around ball while the TP5 has become a super spinny ball.....its not bad, its just different

What is the biggest difference between Pro V1 vs. TP5? Is it the feel or the spin?

TP5 and ProV1 should feel similar - both the "softer" ball of the two ranges. However, TP5 is the higher spinning ball and ProV1X would be the higher spinning ball for Titleist. Its confusing because they do not match up the "X" Version...

 

TP5 = Prov1X in terms of spin  - TP5 will feel softer

ProV1 = TP5X in terms of spin - Prov1 will feel softer

 

If you want similar spin to Prov1 than try the 2021 TP5X

I personally don't see much of a difference in spin between the 2019 and the 2021 TP5 balls.  I'm at the point where they're mixed up in my den caddy, and I can't tell which is which unless I look closely at the dimple pattern.

2019: wedge TP5 wedge

2021: wedge < TP5 > wedge

I draw a line over the TP5 with a sharpie as soon as I get the balls and throw them in my den caddy, so I don't have those markings to look at.  I have noticed the markings when I get them being a bit different.

2021 TP5x still have great short game control like the 2021 ProV1?

I love the TP5. Amazing control around the green. I get back spin even when the wind is behind my back. Feel off the putter is great and putts true. No real significant difference in distance compared to other balls. SS is 108-112 with the driver.

Agree 100 %.   I love them as well
