Yeah...most confusing Tourney name in pro golf.  What with so many tourneys did they just run out of names and decide to take to big ones and smash them together.  The BMW and the PGA Championship....hmmm, let's call this one the The BMW PGA Championship.  Next will we see the Masters Open Championship or maybe the U.S. Open Memorial Championship.  Heck, I'm looking forward to the Barbasol Puerto Rico Open Championship.  Ok...I could keep going but I won't.🤣

The PGA Championship (the one this week) has been around since 1955...

He struck it like an absolute donkey Thurs. He’d be the first to admit it. Not in great current form and surviving on short game alone primarily.

Agree. But that last shot was his intangible on full display. The ability to focus and call up a play on demand during the worst pressure.  I for one like the US teams chances better with him not on the team.

Been watching this since early yesterday morning. The course looks like a North American PGA course. Totally different from what one would associate with UK courses. Loved seeing the crowds too. They got a nice one.

How bout Jimenez! Guy is like 60 and hangin tough. Always liked that dude. Seems like someone you'd want to spend a 19th hole evening with. He's made a helluva living off the Champions Tour. As have many. Seems like a lot of those guys make more on the Champions than they made on the PGA tour.

What look are you expecting from a “UK Course”?   With a good bit of heather on the course it doesn’t feel North American to me.  UK has a lot of parkland and heathland golf courses.

Kiss your invite to (the real) Sunningdale Golf Club (or a few hundred other courses) goodbye!

If my country ever lets me leave our shores again, Wentworth is definitely on the list of courses I have to play. Also, Thomas Bjørn has been giving Tony Johnstone so much grief all broadcast today and it's been hilarious.

Followed Rose and Scott around, and both were playing very well and attracting big crowds.

Also, Wilco Nienaber... We only saw him hit a couple of drivers on Friday; one at the long, uphill third which laughably left what looked like a gap wedge in, and one off the 12th which was a quite simply preposterously long straight bullet with a ball speed that beggared belief. His stock tee shot around Wentworth was a flat-flighted squeezy/stinger-type shot with a strong-lofted hybrid that went... well, somewhat further than my driver. His course management was a bit ropey, but the lad's not the finished article yet. Watching him hit from a few feet away, though, is an experience very much akin how I remember it felt upon first seeing John Daly in person.

I'm kinda in between here. When I think of a "typical UK televised tournament course", I think of something with relatively open views, while US courses more often are those corridors in the woods that Wentworth is like, setting wise. It aint especially pretty, really. But the layout (wasnt Big Easy involved in the redo some 10 ys or so ago?) is something else. Not those long-par-fours-with-a-bunker-in-the-dogleg like Firestone, Pinehurst or colonial. Love the birdie opportunity on each hole ending of the rounds, with 17 rather majestic(don't like the patrons hit ratio, though) and 18 really spectacular.

It’s massively over rated and expensive. Sunningdale is much better.

Yes Els was involved in the changes, it was needed as it use to get so wet in places. From memory at the time the other players were critical of the work that was done.

Harrington better not choose Stenson as a pick for the Ryder Cup.

sweden ulic GIF by LPGA

I was hoping his play would peak this week and he'd get picked, lol!

I enjoyed watching Stenson and Rose at the Ryder Cup in '18 during the remake of the classic "The Train" (Wreck) for the USA.

I see he's reunited with Lord, no idea what drove them to separate.

I'm guessing his odds are pretty low on getting picked so you should be happy (I guess if I was more patriotic I'd want him on the team if he was playing poorly, but I like to see my favorite players on either side of the pond playing their best).

Fleetwood just wants this event over with today so he and Molinari can share a bed on the flight over!

I just don't want a recurrence of 2016 when Clarke chose experience over form.

Kaymer and Westwood combined for a grant total of 1 point.

Knox, Hatton and Noren clearly had better form.

We already have Westy qualified… at least we won’t have Wood and Sullivan this time… (great guys though!)
