Golfers elbow is THE worst pain I've had.

I've broken bones,  had surgery, dislocated a knee and none of those hurt as bad as my golfers elbow. Please tell me it will end sometime lol

That's Bonnie Pruden's method of using pressure points. She's been around for decades. Using pressure points is kind of like acupuncture. Been around for millennia. If you find someone that is an expert in it, you're golden.

Posted this in several old topics, but found it very useful when treating my elbow last year: http://drjuliansaunders.com/dodgy-elbows/

I had been using a therabar, which worked in the past but to no success this time. The important distinction to me was there are multiple tendons/muscles that can be the cause. Mine didn't respond this time until I did the second drill on that site with the forearm rotation.

Well worth the read.

Therabar, sometimes ibuprofen, ice after any activity , and sometimes just because.  And then look at graphite.  I hate that it’s factual in a way. But ,it’s that or stop playing.  mine never tried to heal until I stopped steel shafts.  I didn’t touch a club for 36 days and felt fine. They still make my elbow start to “ heat up “ and that’s worrisome because as you said. The pain is worse I’ve had for anything.  And I broke two vertebrae in 2001 , and had no surgery snd took no pain meds.  The elbow is worse.

good news is , today’s graphite isn’t yesterday’s.   It’s an upgrade in every way if you find the fit that suits you.

I have to disagree.  I've had a broken metacarpal bone in my right index finger and that was the worst possible pain for golf.  I've had golfers elbow in the past as well for reference and it's a b**** but not nearly as painful as the injury I described.  Anyways, all you can really do is ice it down and take NSAIDs selectively.  Time is the only thing that will actually help resolve the issue.  The inflammation needs to subside  then then healing can begin.  You should seriously considering moving onto to composite/graphite shafts.  As @bladehuntersaid, they are life savers for us older/injured foik.  I know my golf would be severely limited if it weren't for the recoil protos I had and the MMT I currently have in my bag.

Had tennis elbow about 8 years ago.  Time and some theraband exercises worked.  Mostly time.  Good thing there are winters here so there is some forced time off.

Golfer's elbow last year.  Exercise, physio and massage did nothing.  Cortisone shot worked for me.  I've now been dealing with tendonitis in the tricep where it attaches to the elbow.  Likely a remnant of the golfer's elbow injury.  Seeing my GP tomorrow to see what avenue I should pursue to remedy this ailment.

And yes, Kidney stones do make X elbow feel like a day at the spa.

Never had those, but I had an uncle who did.  Just by looking at his face I could tell he wanted to curl up into a ball and die.  Luckily they passed.  Worst pain I had was when one of the tumors in my liver ruptured.  Think about repeatedly getting stabbed in the lower abdomen.  ER wouldn't get me on a bed for almost 3 hours.  Finally got whatever sedatives/opiods/meds I needed to knock me out.  Bleeding wouldn't stop so they were going to go in and cauterize whatever they had to.  It finally did stop bleeding on it's own and the final result was a liver transplant because I had numerous adenomas stemming from glycogen liver disease.  I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy.

One of my best buddies is a physical therapist, and on our last golf trip I was getting some pretty bad golfers elbow pain after a couple days of 36.

He did pretty much the same thing Monte writes about in this article where he pinned those muscles super hard and made me move and stretch my wrist a bunch through its whole range of motion. Completely fixed everything almost immediately afterwards and I had no problems at all for the rest of the trip

I’ve had good success in the past with “voodoo flossing” which kinda does the same thing.

Also I have heard people getting rid of it by going on a carnivore diet.

Kidney stones are the very

definition of “exquisite pain”.Luckily mine ( twice in a 30 year gap) )did pass within 24 hours.

Suggestions for golfers elbow

1. rest- most important

2.stretch- extensors , flexors

3 . self massage using a TP massage ball , TPdumbbell + your fingers

4.theraband - green bar

5. ICE

6. ultrasound

7. Voltaren

8.STOP HITTING off of MATS

9. BAND-IT brace

I bit the bullet and decided to go to a local massage therapist and endured some very painful work on my shoulders, arms, forearms and wrists, I was black and blue for a week or so.. but I was pain free the rest of the season. (About 3 months).. I now have a monthly appointment for a deep tissue massage and I have not had any arm pain in 3 years..

it’s called active release therapy or ART and is highly effective for a lot of muscle and tendon issues.

everyone suggesting braces, bands, rubs, creams, and everything else is selling (or has been sold) snake oil.

improve your swing mechanics and strengthen the muscles surrounding the elbow and it will go away forever.
