So, many of you have probably seen my thread about the long and exhausting process of securing some new Ping i210s this summer, and my bag has changed a lot since my last WITB, so I figured it was time for an update. Here's what I play about 95% of the time:

Dang, you got all kinds of goodies in dat bag... 🙂  Haven't seen nor heard much from Miyazaki shafts.  They made a big splash when they introduced Ultra-light shafts.

Yeah, it's eclectic. I'm brand agnostic, but I know quality and I know what I like. If it works, it sticks. Honestly, this is the first time in about a decade that I can't identify a real "hole" in my bag.

 

As far as the Miyazaki shaft is concerned, I've played a couple in my day (former Cleveland homer) and I've always done well with them. Overall the Launcher HB is a "light" club and I think they did a great job matching the shaft to the head. It's as stable as anything else I've played and makes swinging the club that much easier. Win/win IMHO.

Ha! So funny. My wife came home from shopping right in the middle of posting this and claimed to be "dying of hunger." So, we went out for a mediocre dinner at Bonefish Grill at like 5:30 on New Year's Eve. I got the "Signature Pasta w/ chicken." Oh my life...

 

In any event, my bag evolves slowly but surely. I don't have any problems with any of my equipment at the moment. All of it works fine if you aren't an idiot. It is tough not to be an idiot in this game, at times.

 

Overall I really love my current setup.

 

The Cleveland Launcher XL(New since update) is a really solid driver. No-nonsense head paired with a decent quality shaft (Project X Cypher 50 6.0 (https://www.truetempersports.com/en-us/golf/golf/project-x-graphite-iron-shafts/cypher-graphite-iron-golf-shafts.html). A light and lively shaft. Might play a bit on the loose side. Maybe a shaft change could be warranted. I assume Cleveland sleeves are the same as Srixon? I'll have to find that out.

 

Overall, it's clear the Launcher XL isn't a Stealth, but I have outdriven guys with Stealths. I did play with two comparable players the other day who were both playing fitted, recent gen Titleists. They got me by 3-5 yards consistently. Maybe that shows something. Who knows. Overall, I've found the Launcher very, very playable. Don't feel at a disadvantage to anyone. 

 

The g30 3w has been awesome (New since update). Got it with the GD AD-DI 7x (I know I'm about 4 years behind the times) but it was only about $120 shipped IIRC. The shaft is probably a touch stiff, but produces very nice solid performance. I can't complain. Long with flat trajectory. 

 

Hybrids are good. The 913h 19* plays a bit more "fairway wood" in general, but it fills a hole for me at 215-225 very competently. Great ballflight. Quite accurate. Not quite as versatile as I would like. The stock Diamana S+ Blue is fine. And my trusty Razr X 4h 23* lives on. Can't get rid of it. Anything from 210 to 175 into a stiff breeze, this thing works.

 

Irons are wonderful. Pings have always been easy to hit for me. Couldn't get over the looks of Eyes, Zings, and ISIs. Wanted a set since the i3s. Finally got one. Couldn't be happier. Just the amount of forgiveness I need. Haven't felt more confident in my iron game in years.

 

Wedges. Need replacement. The 0* Callaway Jaws CC is cool and I like it, but time to get real. 6-8* of bounce called for. The RTG 2.0s are fine, but I need something new.

 

The Bettinardi SS7 persists. I've toyed around with the ole' Zing 2, but the Bettinardi just screams to be used. Easily the best club in my bag. Love that thing.

 

So, my projects for the new year will be (I think):

 

New wedges and a driver shaft.
