He's culpable for sure and I didn't mean to say he wasn't. I think he's easily influenced though. Just reading between the lines I get the impression he might think his parents are hypocrites. He clearly distanced himself from an early age and hooked up with his wife pretty early too. She also sounds like a real hell on wheels diva. She might have been the best piece he ever had and everyone knows that power! He's made a lot of mistakes but I doubt he walks around wanting to be hated. The things he's notorious for outside the ropes are more aligned with vindictive mean girl antics, not guy type reactions. That's what makes me think her/his circle more than him but ultimately he's responsible.

I'm certainly not a Reed fan but as long as he's healthy I think you have to take him based on his track record in the Ryder Cup.  He's also had a decent year, outside of the recent health issues.

I really don't know what the attributes of a successful Ryder Cup captain ARE.

Seems to me the Ryder Cup, like the other Cup competitions, are merely exhibitions.   Fun, exciting, but in the end, just exhibitions.

Many people today apparently never learned how or when to shut up.

Patrick Reed couldn't shut up in 2018, calling out captain Furyk and Spieth in public.

Sometimes that stuff carries over. Either you're a team player or you're not.

I would rather win the Ryder Cup than be thankful someone wasn't there because of some tweets that were liked. Who the f*** cares, at the end of the day its about winning. 

 

I dont care either way but the amount of people who put trivial stuff from off the course over what the player can do on the course is astonishing. Fact is he has a pretty solid RC record and could have been an asset to this team. We now have 6 rookies, so lets see how they fair. 

Also, while were on the topic, are we letting Brooks & DeChambeau's twitter antics slide on this one? They have actually tweeted, not liked, worse things at each other than anything that was "liked" by Reeds WIFE/team.

There are a lot of people that not only think they can do a better job, they are unfamiliar with being a Captain and what that means. It is a product of this woke environment we live in where the public think they have a say in everything.

I don't like Reed, but I agree that simply liking tweets that were complimentary to him does not mean he is throwing his toys out of the cot or expressing any anger towards the captain.

As dumb as that was, I think he would have been on the team had he played better this summer and not become “sick” in the hospital over the last few weeks.

I wouldn't say he's the worst, but he wasn't the best, and I like Stricker.  He's too malleable for leadership, though.  When Tiger was playing, he was the only one openly willing to play Tigers ball.

it's pretty easy to take a guy if he's not liked by the opposition, but liked/trusted by his own guys.  most every great team has at least one guy (poulter) who fits the "if hes your teammate you love him and if he's your opponent you absolutely hate his guts.  the problem for reed is that he speaks his mind against everyone, teammates included.  him winning a couple points doesn't override that fact.

once he stepped over that line, it became pretty obvious they would be looking for opportunities to exclude him.  he had a "sidekick" or "partner," and once that guy voiced his displeasure, or didn't publicly support him, it snow balled from there.  he's an absolute team culture cancer.
