This is should be the goal of Commissioner Samaan:

LMAO.......The Invisible Woman can't even spend less than 5 minutes to make a statement to the media about the loss of sponsorship for the International Crown....and you hope she can bring more visibility/exposure to the LPGA.🤣

By the end of 2022...you'll be wishing for the return of Smiley Mike to the LPGA.

Hopefully they can get in 18 holes tomorrow. Never like when the tournament is cut short, especially losing two rounds. It's been a while since they had a 36 hole one. 2018 VoA Texas Classic I believe.

At least 54 will happen, in my "read" of what I saw, and know...  Even the GC commentators talked about WMT being on Friday so a Monday finish would be possible...

I don't know if it rained much today...but I suspect today was cancelled because the course is a bit of a mess and the super suggested no play today to protect the course for the membership.

Although 525 km away...but our rainfall forecast has yet to materialize here....but I suspect it later today.

Oregon Golf Club doesn’t drain well at all. Even if they play tomorrow, it’ll be sloppy. I played the pro-am on Wednesday and neither the players or the caddies are big fans of the golf course. Better suited to mountain goats than golf.

TV doesn't truly capture the REAL topography.

Is OGC really that hilly that walking on a daily/weekly basis would be too cumbersome?
I assume many OGC members cart???

Generally speaking....at our privates here...it's basically a walking culture.

I did a Google....I thought OGC was a members owned private....seems like it's corporately owned....by a South Korean business man.

Do you know the cost of a OGC F/T membership initiation?

On the OGC website...the Youtube video says OGC is one of Oregon's best privates???

I think not???....it doesn't show up on any top list I Googled.

I assume OGC decided to host the LPGA to showcase the course for more members???....I assume they might be struggling for members???

Basically all the privates here have very long wait lists...especially increased by the pandemic demand...with most initiations to the premier privates at $50-$100K.

I hope the city gets the homeless off Marine Dr and away from CEGC.

I have to agree that the course doesn't drain well. For a course built in the PNW, 2 inches of rain doesn't sound like much.

It appears that it's currently raining there, and it will continue until noon. It looks light, though. Hopefully they can start the 3rd round, and finish tomorrow.

Yes, OGC is as hilly a golf course as I’ve ever played. Just to give you an idea, my Apple Watch credited me with 92 flights of stairs climbed while walking the pro-am round.  Most members use carts.

Cost to join, at least as of last summer, is $15k. No disrespect intended, but OGC is generally considered to be towards the lower end of the Portland area’s private courses. It has a beautiful clubhouse and wonderful views, but the golf course isn’t that good.

I don’t think they’re struggling for members, but I’m sure hosting the LPGA is good for their reputation. OGC used to be owned by American Golf for many years, not sure what the ownership situation is currently.

The third round is off and running, there's now a 90% confidence it'll be a 54 hole event.

Wasn't it officially announced it's a 54 hole event nonetheless?  plus they have monday as a buffer too... https://www.lpga.com/news/2021/2021-cambia-portland-classic-reduced-to-54-holes

There's still a 10% possibility today's round is washed out and the 2nd round result stands.

I lived in the Portland area for about 25 years and played OGC maybe 10 times. Never considered becoming a member.  IMO -

It’s built on a long ridge that’s typical of the area. The base level is essentially the Willamette River. Some areas drain well, others don’t and there’s not much they can do about it.

The course is in heavy woodlands. Trees are close to pretty much every fairway. The rough tends to be left thick in order to restrict errant shots in a playable area.

The overall effect is that it’s very much target golf. If you can’t identify the appropriate target areas and hit them consistently, you’re going to get wiped out, and if the coverage showed more of the “average” shots, we would see that. OGC is grossly biased towards the skilled player, and discounts raw distance. It can also be punitive to those who haven’t played it before.

This is the type of venue that many, correctly IMO, wish was more prevalent on all levels of tournament play.

Looks like the final group teed off 20 minutes ago or so, and have completed the first two holes. If there are no further delays, they should finish up in roughly four hours, or 5:30 pm EDT. The TV coverage was scheduled to conclude at 6 pm EDT, so fingers crossed, we should she the finish.

So OGC was built 3 decades ago.

Doesn't look like there are houses built around the course???

Trying to make money on a stand alone golf course is always challenging.

There are a small number of multi-million dollar places on the first five holes, but they’re on acreage and set back quite a ways from the golf course.

If they don't return to OGC or CE in 2022...I hope Pumpkin (Ghost) isn't selected.

Watched it in 2010...IMO...the course is kinda boring.

I seen the Witch on TV....looks like a superior course...that's why it's the private one.

I don't know if it's been rectified. I read that the Ghost can get mucky in the winter.

Question.

She doesn't have the pedigree or career win records of other LPGA pros.

So why are there quite a few Su Oh fanboys here?.....especially in the discussions in the contest thread.

Yes, I'm a fanboy.

She's fun, she's Aussie, and she's an underdog and was a solid amateur! ☺︎   I'm also a Perth loyalist aka Minjee/Min Woo... and a JDay fanboy...  (I'm fine with Hannah Green too haha)
