Gearhart Golf Links round booked for my birthday.

Have not played there but heard good things. Rented a house for a 4 day weekend and have a Friday 8:30 tee time, should be fun.

From the looks of it it doesn't favor lefties. It looks like it will be a challenge if nothing else.

It’s a great golf course. #18 is an absolute beast especially if the wind is blowing. The Highlands golf course where Discount Dan’s (well known online retailer on this site) is located isn’t that far and it is a fun little 9 hole course that was well maintained when I have played it in the past. I have also heard that Astoria Country Club allows some outside play…at least they use to….might be worth a try too if you plan on playing a lot.

I will try to check out Highlands. I'm only an hour away from there, I just haven't ventured that way yet. I feel like my game is in a good enough place to enjoy the challenge.

I have gone to town quite a bit. When I was younger we would go wheeling in the dunes and on the beach. It's a great little town, I've just never brought clubs with me before.

I booked an 8 for Monday at the Highlands Golf Club, but I might not make it. I'm going to try for sure.

Checkout is 11, so I can make my 8 at Highlands. Going to be a good weekend.

I'm headed to Gearhart at the end of this month (September) for a first time visit.  Very interested in the area, coast, real estate, proximity to my son's new home near Portland.  Can't wait to play the course(s).  Discount Dan's has been my go-to retailer for many years.  Have a blast.  (Any additional info on the Gearhart/Astoria area would be great).

The wife and I split our time between the coast and the mountains, but golf has only been a thing since last summer, so I have not played any courses yet.

 

Friday the 24th at Gearhart (8:30), then Monday at Highlands (8:00). My back went out on the first tee this morning, so I will see doc today and hope to be ready by then.

Gearhart is fun. Played once a few years ago and next time I am in the area I plan on playing it again. Please report back after your round, would love to hear about your experience

I plan to get as many pictures as I can and will be taking in the experience for sure. It's not far from me (90 minutes) and it isn't crazy expensive, I could see playing semi regular if it's as fun as it looks.

I can't wait to play this course again. Having not played out of sand much before this, it made for a fun experience. I hit 3 different bunkers and was able to get out of all of them ok. The pace was great, the wind was a challenge as well. But by far the best place I've played so far. It's less than 2 hours, so I will be making somewhat regular trips.
