Today is the day!!

 

Our anniversary was last night so I wasn’t able to jump on and check out too much although I did manage to catch the Opening Ceremony.

 

My takeaways:-

 

The cop from the Hangover was the host?! Really?

The Euro suits were sharp;

US outfit was alright, old school and with his top button undone, Cantlay looked like a Physics teacher;

Could they not have positioned the autocue better? At times it felt like Stricker & Harrington had only learned to read earlier that day.

It keeps him fresh for the fourballs. Imagine being a 40 year old plus Euro having gone 18 in the morning foursomes and then getting drawn against a fresh bomber like Bryson in the fourballs. Bryson is 1 up on the 1st tee.

Calling out Ian Poulter as the worst ball striker and the Sergio Garcia as the worst putter in the Ryder Cup is a lovely tonic to mix with Cantlay’s gin comment earlier in the week. Cheers chaps!

Short version, some people just don't sound smart no matter the words coming out of their mouth.

Paige McKenzie agrees with this.  Why they paired her with Cara Robinson and Duval baffles me.  Duval was clearly irritated with ‘ol Paige yesterday as she was struggling to put a complete thought together in a sentence.

After watching the preview shows all week i am so glad we dont have to watch the golf channel to see golf, the presenters and the "on course" guys are awful, everything is an advert for something, and im sorry but the drivel that comes out of these peoples mouths is just painful

Yea. I do not get those hosts at all. Huge fail. Pga trying very hard to be “ hip”.   Might try a host who’s seen a golfball before next time.

Yep. I almost posted similar last night.   That I thought people were just prejudiced against his  accent.  And I’m not even sure where he’s from.     Morgan freeman literally has a commercial about this recently.  He says something to he effect that “ this voice sounds like it has all the answers.  But in fact it’s full of questions” and he begins to ask a million questions.  Etc.

Playing him the foursomes would have been mind blowing, nearly as much so a pairing him with Phil in Pairs. 
 

I think Stricker is being massively under rated as a captain. I sense a Statler & Waldorf sketch playing out of WRX.
