Have to agree. Many of the putts made by Rahm, other than the snake, were from great leaves by Garcia. Plus Garcia’s putt near the end, can’t remember which hole.

4-ball is a different game than foursomes.

 

Being comfortable with each other is far more important in foursomes.  In 4-ball, you're playing your own ball at all times.

This is my only surprise as well.  I figured all 12 guys would play today, but I thought Morikawa was a cinch to play all 5 sessions.

Totally accept that but their dynamic just seems to work. Strange to miss out on it. DJ could have easily gone with JT.

There's nothing "goofy" with any of them.  DJ and Schauffele should be just as good as DJ/Morikawa.  Scheffler's ball striking and short game are a perfect compliment to Bryson in 4-ball.  Finau and English should be a GIR machine.  Surprised to see JT split from JS, but Cantlay's game meshes with anyone.

 

The US team is so diverse and compatible that you could go a million different ways with pairings.

Isn't Morikawa coming off a slight back strain issue?  Supposedly why he struggled in the Playoff events.  I totally get not playing him until he drops, if this is the case.

Totally forgot about this.  

 

Figured Koepka would only play once a day because of his wrist, but Morikawa may only play once per day to protect the back.
