We got pairings

Koepka/Berger vs Rahm/Garcia

DJ/Morikawa vs Casey/Hatton

JT/JS vs Hovland/Wiesberger

Xander/Cantlay vs Westwood/Fitzpatrick

I think it's another 3-1 US win. DJ is on fire as is JT and Cantlay/Xander are playing really well. Rahm and Garcia will be the only point Europe will win. Only match that is a toss up IMO is the Koepka/Berger vs Rahm/Garcia. US will have at least 10-11 points by the end of tomorrow.

I like the Brooks/Berger pairing but I would have rather seen a Morikawa/Brooks pairing. They seem like they're made for each other especially in 4ball. The other 3 are completely understandable even though I might have chosen different pairings but not much.

The European dinosaurs are weighing the team down.

Agree.  We beat them to the punch in this department IMO.  Westwood and Poulter have been great and I like them both but I think Europe went to the well one too many times.

I like the fresh young guys getting experience for our side.  Europe will have to do the same eventually and then we will have more experience on our side, plus a lot of youth.

The pairing looks good. But … I wouldn’t call it US favor until all matches are done tomorrow.

US always looks strong on paper.

Justin Rose should have been selected over Poulter. I like Polts but Justin has a better overall game even though he's had a tougher year. Harrington shat the bed not selecting him. If the matches keep progressing like they are Harrington will be one of the biggest flop captains of all time.

Yes, strong on paper. But they also looked pretty strong on the actual course today.

As bad as Darren Clarke when he was Captain?

Meh.  Too much gimmickry.

looks more gimmicky than it really is because of the over-bunkering across the landscape, imo ... but there's always at least one "really?" on a pete dye course, and usually two ... but the thousand of bunkers that dot the eye when you look around are silly ... few of them actually in play ...

Dustin hit a putt this morning and the tv coverage  played crowd  noise cheering in reverse. That was weird. We can’t trust the coverage of crowd noise to be truthful? What else are they faking?

the distance the ball goes? ... just taking a stab here, people ...

Not taking anything away from Stricker.  I guess he could have made bad pairings, but the U.S. team just flat out played to their potential and that's far too much for the geriatric Euro team to handle.

One of the few times the Americans played up to their rankings. The Euros have beat us Cup after Cup with amazing Mojo and intangibles. It's nice to see us live up to our potential for a change. I'd never count the Euros out because they usually rise to the occasion. After day 1 it's looking good though.

I think Harrington thinks he made a big bold call by sitting Rory, but then he throws Westwood/Fitzpatrick out there again.

Entertaining day of golf for sure. Haven't seen DJ putt that well in a long time and it was great to see JT turn it around in the afternoon. When you're down and convert an eagle on 16 to square the match, that's freaking clutch and worth the price of admission.

I was looking at the foursome pairings and it seems like most of the guys paired up are playing the same or very similar golf balls. That seems like a really solid strategy on a course where the wind comes into play constantly.

Rahm is obviously nuts, and Hatton is looking like a clutch player who is going to shine in future Cups.

I think the fact that there are very few European fans in attendance is really hurting the Europeans' mojo.  In past Cups, they've really seemed to be able to feed of off their fans and come thru with clutch play.  Very few Euro fans this year and very little Euro clutch play so far.  Maybe they can beam in some of their fans on large monitors at each green, kind of like the talk shows were doing during COVID lockdown.
