J think that's a design fault these days... It's always just screaming at you. Design professor always said "God is in the details" "less is more" and the best line I live by is "the seduction of reduction"

We all know Mizuno. And honestly IMHO if you're going to be playing these irons you're not looking for loud marketing. Just clean esthetics, solid feel and sound.

I think the two company that hit the mark this year was Titleist and TM.

T300 is fairly busy with branding; the T200 is minimal but still it has "Titleist" in it branding script and T200 in the lower middle. Mizuno has the Script and "221" and an unpainted Running Bird. Titleist looks cleaner but I bet in hand some people will find it more accepting.

I think if that makes one avoid it. one is focusing too much on the wrong factors -  it's about performance, not an extra unpainted logo.  But I understand, it's an opinion. They could have left off the Mizuno Pro but if you are Mizuno - you've got the unpainted logo, the MP Series Brand and the series number. It's still tasteful, if slightly more than I'd want - I think Mizuno Pro with the 221 where the Running Bird is located is enough. But it's not seen at address, so it doesn't make any difference to me. After it's in the bag and if it performs, I'll soon forget it. But one can take out the paint fill  from Mizuno Pro and that may do it.

It makes sense to build this topic, because it is the only one with the actual names of the irons listed. The 39+ page thread has a title for an iron that wasn't announced.

Check out the promo-page: https://www.mizuno.jp/golf/mizunopro.aspx It had me looking up kanji and dusting off my old Japanese flashcards.

The lofts are stronger than the MP-20 HMBs. I wonder if this is due to the tungsten.

Interesting look at the transition. So, what’s the difference between the 225 and 221 when it comes to the 9-pw?

Both seem to be solid clubs, if that’s true then might the 223 be an option to keep the distance and control more consistent? Or wild it better to alter the loft to add the lost distance going from hollow to solid?

I'm thinking 2-5 225, 6-9 223, PW-LW T22. Hollow, tungsten cavity + regular cavity, blade.

Seems like a good mix.

I have used for the past two seasons MP20MMC irons 6 thru PW. I am planning to replace the 6 & 7 MMCs with 223s 5 thru 7 and bend my MMC 9 one degree stronger and the MMC 8 Iron two degrees stronger. There does not appear to be much of a difference in the 223 8-9 & PW and my MMCs. The changes in the 223s approach irons will be a real game changer for most of us.

Why is this a thread? The other 30+ page thread isn’t enough?

I’m utterly amazed at how many people say they won’t buy an iron because of some writing on the back.

I'm amazed at how many people care so much about other peoples opinions. If I don't like a design why would I buy it? I can get the same performance from a handful of other models and brands. Is it cool now to not care about anything but numbers?

I am getting my pre-ordered Mizuno Pro 223 set on Oct. 15, which is the official release date in the far east.  I'll post some photos comparing these with my current gamers (P7MC).

Cant wait for this... I am holding out with my current gamers for the new release and am very interested in the 223. If its a good look and feel (and a bit of bounce that still gets through the turf) I am going for it. The turf interaction probably critical as thats why I was looking at ZX7.

Enjoy the new clubs!

I love the look of these irons, but I am not the greatest fan of the black font Mizuno Pro… If these irons suits my game I think I would have removed the black paintfill. To the artist who just made a mizuno pro-line in copper… would you please make an example with a font in bare steel (no paintfill)… 🤩

I'd like to know too. Not sure how I feel about my 921Ts but I loved my MP20 MMCs.

they won’t be that different than the MP20 line. Just double check lofts. They’ll hype them up because they need to sell but 3% of this or 5% more of that won’t really make a big difference.

The new MMC - the 223- will have major differences from the MP20 line according to Vosh.

I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
