Bryson statements on training for WLD while preparing for Ryder Cup

I’ll let y’all read this…make your own judgments, nice to know you can judge your progress in golf by a number, but not by playing golf…LOL. We do, it’s called your score.

I had predicted that his tune up for the Long Drive would be a Ryder Cup distraction.  We'll see how it plays out.

Bryson is young.  He can handle it.  I mean, it's just golf.  It's not like he's doing a triathlon or something.

Something is only a distraction if it is allowed to be, all the guys who are participating in the Ryder events are top pros who shouldn't be impacted by this at all.  Bryson has for almost two years been on a mission to generate as much clubhead speed as possible, I would never be surprised if he decided to compete in long drive during his off-weeks from PGA Tour obligations or schedule.  Quite frankly, the PGA Tour could use some of the "fun side" of golf incorporated into it's schedule.  For example, how about a 1-week all-star break in the middle of the season where there can be players voted in and then also selected for events like long drive or skills challenges.  The PGA Tour needs more Bryson Dechambeau type players.

Very true, but I think that's where some things based on performance such as driving distance would automatically qualify guys to get in for at least that event.

For being as smart as he tells us he is, Bryson is brain dead when it comes to being on message. Although does this now mean that he is speaking to the media again? I had enjoyed his radio silence 😂

This has to be quite a puzzle for Stricker.  In fourball, BDC could be useless to his partner if he sprays it all over the place, or could have flip wedges into every green.  In foursomes, it is just 7 holes where he could potentially give his partner a flip wedge in.  Weird.  Most of the time these matches come down to putting, for BDC matches it will be whether he can stay out of deep rough.

Honestly think there would have been some mileage in picking Reed and pairing he and Bryson in a no one else wants to play with them partnership.

You realize Bryson led the Tour in SG Driving this year, right?  By almost three-tenths of a stroke?   And in SG Tee to Green, the only guys better where Rahm, JT, Morikawa, and Cantlay.

 

Nobody is going to look at being paired with Bryson and think they are at a disadvantage.  On the contrary, the guys are going to line up to want to play with him in an alternate or 4-ball format.  They will be paired statistically with the best driver in the game.

Its like everyone has forgotten what Bryson does each week on Tour.  Dude is on the driving range from sunrise to sunset all week.

He pretty well said in the article, aside form the two-a-day stuff, he had been doing this speed training anyway for a while.  As I read it this morning I didn't take it that he had neglected any other practicing for this, just more of it.

He is not “smart”, there is no indication whatsoever that he is of above average intelligence. He is as smart as the average person. The average person is an idiot.

His desire for more physical abilities is not relevant to being “smart”. The two topics are not related. Drinking protein shakes, watching movies with a gizmo hooked into his brain, lifting weights and running does not impact a person’s intelligence.

Like most on this forum have said. The US team doesn’t care about the Ryder cup and this is another example. If Bryson cared he probably be focused on his golf and checking out the site instead of long drive.

I am not disagreeing with that assessment. He of course would but having listened to him talk more than I would have wanted to, the conclusion that I have come to is that he has picked up some big words, doesn’t really know the meaning of them but uses them anyway 😂

Socrates would disagree with you. There’s a bunch of studies that show exercise improves cognitive abilities.

I recall he did go with the team a couple weeks ago to check out Whistling. Straights.  No “instead” needed.
