Best Custom Leather Headcovers

I ordered some from Headgear golf and have no complaints. I live in South Africa so getting them here was a trick but all worth it.

Do you remember if they were in my price range before I contact them?

I paid $139.00 for Driver, Fairway and X Headcovers in full grain leather

Look up Dormie Golf.  Their quality is incredible.  They do full custom but also have plenty of standard options that are unique.  You can probably get very close to $250 for three covers.  You will not be disappointed.

+1 on Dormie:

I contacted Dormie about 6 months ago about making a driver cover for me and they were charging $175 for it.

Oh wow. That’s cheap.

Prices may be a bit different now depending on what you need - I ordered mine 2-3 years ago (still in amazing condition).

Look at the website and reach out - I had a great experience dealing with them.

Winston Collection, Dormie Workshop, Coobs Golf, PushCut Customs, Rawhide Golf.

All make extremely high quality stuff.

Caleb at Rawhide Golf designed and made me a custom set for less than I had anticipated.

Can't go wrong with any of them.

Over 48 hours later and neither Headgear or Winston Collection have responded to my inquiries about making me headcovers and scorecard holders. Not impressed with either’s customer service at this point.

There have been some stories in the past year+ of people pretty disappointed by Headgear and their communication and then production times. Personally I'd stay away.

To be honest I don't know that Winston Collection caters to the one off personal covers. They make a lot of covers for courses for sale in their pro shops and seem to be quite busy with that, so I'm not sure just one set is something they're looking to do, but I could be wrong though.

I wish I had a suggestion for you though, about 5+ years ago there were a handful of reliable options, but they all seem to have crashed and burned since then.

Patrick Gibbons could be one to try, but I don't know if he does personal covers anymore, nor his price range if he did.

There is definitely something there if you aren’t interested in orders. Trying Delila again as she is trying to work me in…

I heard from Winston…let’s just say for everyone that suggested them, either their pricing has gone up DRAMATICALLY or you didn’t see my budget. Not even in the ballpark. They also made it clear by everything they told me about my design, they didn’t want to do this order. Told me they couldn’t do anything that I wanted practically and it’s not very custom what I’m wanting. Delila said no problem to all of it.

I had Winston make some covers, pouches, and flags for an outing. I donated them to raise money for the outing cause. I will say the quality was second to none. The pricing was what it was, but the communication and process wasn't the greatest. They are local for me, so I wanted to support a local small business,  but my impression was they are a commercial type vendor now, and not in the business of one offs. They do large orders and if I recall they had a 12 piece minimum for the headcovers.  Quality and craftsmanship was perfect, everything else was so so.

They definitely only want bigger orders from our conversation and I’m sure they give discounts for that as well. Let’s just say that for what I wanted, after tax the first number was going to start with a 4.

Pricing is certainly one way to segment a market / discourage sales that would disrupt their process...companies also use minimums as another way to do that.  Custom orders can take WAY more time than anticipated if:  A) the customization is not on a variable the company planned for (their processes are set up for and maybe even their materials are even pre-cut for) and/or B) the customer isn't pretty sure what they want -- you end up in a design/proofing cycle purgatory (and the customer is very likely to end up with a mild to severe case of buyer's remorse because they see something else somewhere or have another, better idea).

It can be a tough balance for sure...but starting with a "4" definitely told you their thoughts on this particular piece of business for them!  😉🙂😁

Sorry to hear this, I had a very good experience. Might have gone bust with Covid? Although I would have expected the opposite. Many good recommendations on here, hope you come right!

I have had them all and I have said this before.  Scott at Elliot golf bags is impossible to beat.  Quality is infinitely better than anyone else.  Winston feels like a higher end stock headcover.  Cru is good if you actually get someone to make them correctly.  Scott's are perfect, every time, and he can do whatever you want.
