SIM2 Fairway...Hook Biased?

Hello friends...I've been testing a SIM2 Rocket 13.5 as almost a mini driver/2-wood off the tee play. However, I've found it to be very hook biased, very hook. For reference, I have a 915f 15* set to A1 with a Diamana 80x untipped that I hit pretty straight. It's been in the bag for 6 years and I love it but looking for something just a little longer so have been experimenting with SIM2 Rocket. I started with Diamana DF 80TX and hooked the crap out of it. I even lowered the loft ie open the face all the way to lower, still the same. I've often read the Motore Speeder VC tour spec line is great shaft to mitigate the hook. I have had good success with the 8.8x VC tour specs shafts eliminating the hook in my hybrids, so I picked up a Motore Speeder 8.2x VC tour spec here. It's also tipped 0.75", so a pretty stout shaft. For reference, I'm no long-drive champ...driver ball speed typically mid-160mph, so if anything, this shaft should be too stout for me. Nevertheless, testing it the last couple of days, hitting very strong hooks with this setup, even lofting it down fully which should open the face 4*. I don't hit hooks like this with any other club. My driver ball flight is a fade with miss being right. Hybrid iron flight is slight draw with a miss left, but nothing close to what I've seen with this.

My question is....have others found this SIM2 Rocket head to be hooked bias. What have others found?

Yes this distance is great which is why I would love to be able to find the setup to make it playable. I like that I hit it right to left since I hit driver left to right so I have options for different shape tee shots, but in it's current form, it's not simply a draw but more a 40 yard hook which isn't playable.

No, it's something you are doing or are feeling with the head/shaft combo.

I found the sim and sim2 ti models to sit way closed. I never got club face data but the way the thing sat (even in the open settings) made me feel like I couldn't swing left. I'm quite sure my path would get too neutral because of the way that head looks closed at address.

Kind of a "I feel like I'm going to hit this left so i can't swing left" feeling. That results in a neutral or slight in to out path and hook city.

Sim2 ti and original sim ti both look closed to me in standard setting. Sim2 looked more square than original to my eye. I’ve owned both and had to play them set to lower. They were almost too long and I still had a big left miss every once in awhile. Currently playing g425 max 3 and 7 woods set on big minus. The sim line feels and sounds way better but the g425 are automatic. Left miss is gone.

I've honestly found it to be all over the map. Some SIMs sat pretty neutral, others fractionally open, others slammed shut, all in their respective neutral settings.

Regarding the SIM2, the only way a fairway directly causes hooks is by sitting too shut, everything else is how you're reacting to something aesthetically or feel wise. Heel/toe weighting will only slightly influence ball flight and won't turn an otherwise center strike into a hook or a slice.

Personally I moved this year from an M5(felt it sat closed) to choosing the head on a SIM2 and it sits sooo good on the floor, if I hoot it then its certainly my fault.

Shame I currently have been useless at golf lately and the hook. is far too often!

Agree.  My SIM2 looks be slightly open at address.  The Diamana PD which I just put in play is very anti-left and low launch for me as well so I can play it on standard setting now.  The OG SIM ti 15* I have to play with the face cranked open because it looks dead square.  It has as softer shaft(Diamana ZF) and if I'm not careful, I can hook it sometimes.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
