Descent Angle while testing

Hi all,

 

Hoping to get some ideas on the forum. Testing some irons today and wanting to get some insights if it might be a swing issue or Trackman calibration issue (or perhaps the wind).

 

Tested in some heavy wind, mostly off the left (right handed golfer) and sadly with a Srixon range ball. 

 

Testing on a 7 Iron:

Swing Speed: 94-96mph average

AOA: -4.5 degrees

Peak height: 30 degrees

Spin: (8200 rpm on range ball so assuming 7000 rpm on my normal Srixon XV)

 

These are all exactly where I expect them to be except:

Launch angle: 10-12 degrees

Descent angle: 38-41 degrees

 

Could this be an anomaly or calibration error? Or something to be worried about? My baseline iron was also coming out "lower and hotter"... only thing I can think of is perhaps I am delofting too much today?

Personally, The whole lot of data is garbage if you tested exclusively with range balls. With that being said, thats not that terribly flat for a descent angle.

When using range balls, Trackman needs to be set for Normalization mode and have the correct ball conversion setting for accurate data.  Something is definitely off with those readings.  I assume peak heights 30 yards, not degrees as noted.  At 30 yards peak height and 8200 rpm or even 7000 rpm, your descent angle would be roughly 10* higher than the reading you saw.

Apologies, yes it would be meters and not degrees.

 

Thank you for the input, seemed a bit off to me… felt like good windows but the data was strange!

ALWAYS bring a few of your gamer balls you can "donate" to the range.
Using range balls is NO GOOD, since ALL return values becomes wrong, and even if "Normalization" and correct conversion was used, the ball flight you SEE, is NOT what you get.

Real life in play, a player with your clubs speed will hardly ever see a descent angle below 50* with a #7 iron, and its up against 50* we try to move "all others" to give them the stopping power needed. (PGA average is 46* for a #3 iron, and higher for all the others)
