If you could rewatch one tournament again for the first time which one would it be and why?

2019 Masters.  For a moment, you felt that maybe Tiger COULD break Jack's record after all.

12th hole was the difference - Koepka, Poulter, Molinari, and Finau hit it in the drink.  All end up with doubles.  Woods hits it to safe part of the green and ends up winning by one, then has a great moment with his kids after the round is over.

Yes absolutely true.   I was blown away with the usual Sunday pin all those guys were teeing it up on the left side of the tee.  Tiger teed it from left side as well.   Made no sense to me.

Why don't more guys just aim at the front bunker and just hit the number it takes to clear the lip. Take anything right of that bunker or long out of play.  It's not too tough of an up/down from that bunker I think would probably make a 4 at worst.

If I can't pick whats already been said, maybe the 2021 PGA.

I very good habit of saying "that guys definitely not going to win" and then seeing them go on to win. On Phil's first tee shot on Thursday  he hit it dead left (could have been dead right, but was a horrible shot). I just looked it thought, that guys definitely not winning. Brooks opening double bogey trying to get out of a bunker on Thursday and messing up the first par 5 on Sunday were things that probably helped Phil a lot (side note: at the 2021 British Open, on Saturday before Colin teed off they threw up a graphic that said "no player has ever won their first attempt at a PGA and a British" I thought, yea because its really hard, Colin's definitely not winning...maybe I need to start betting that).

2019 Masters. Was the first Masters I watched with my son and who didn't enjoy seeing Tiger win another one?!

Trust me.  Whether you've seen it or not, the answer is the '86 Masters.

BTW, it's debatable if the majority of folks old enough to remember watching it live can actually use the interwebs/internets/technology.  So, the results of this informal poll are moot...unless the '86 Masters is the winner.

Wait, are you saying that replay is available on the line?  Like instantaneously on the line?

I am ignoring pretty much everything pre-94 as I was too young to have watched them. With that being the case, I have narrowed it down to:-

1997 Masters

1999 Open

2000 US Open

2000 Open

2008 US Open

2019 Masters

With that being the case, I am going to plump for the 1999 Open. I was there on the Friday and Saturday and then just the sheer madness of what happened on the last day. At the time, I was too young to really appreciate what it meant for a Scot to win The Open. We used to be pretty good at it when there were only 12 people playing, 156 is just too tough. Van de Velde of course threw it away but Lawrie did what he needed to do but at the time, the magnitude of what he did was kinda lost on me.

The 1999 Open!

Firstly, I envy you for being there.

The end of this tournament was simply astounding. If you saw it live, you'll never watch the end of a major the same way again.

You can't explain Van DeVelde's collapse to people who weren't there.

I played it for the 13 year old son the other day.

It is truly a sporting spectacle for the ages.

1986 Masters is the only answer IMO. So easy to forget that the Saturday round was incredible as well, with Nick Price and his horseshoe putt on 18 to miss out on what would still be the only 62 in a major to this day. But the Sunday drama was there with all the top names of the game in the hunt, Seve, Kite, Norman, Watson and Price all hovering around the lead, only to have Jack come out of nowhere and steal the show. Can't write it any better IMO.

Aside from that:

1999 US Open

1999 Ryder Cup

2008 US Open

Watching the '86 Masters with my dad was what made me want to play golf.

Also throwing out another vote for '00 US Open. We already knew Tiger was good but that was the like "Yall ain't ready for this" moment.

I would love to see the 1965 Open Championship when Peter Thomson won his 5th Open beating the big three Palmer, Nicklaus and Player at Birkdale. Thomson's 4 other wins were all in the 50s (incl 3 in a row) and he was never given much credit because it was not so popular for Americans to go across until Palmer made it a "must". So this was a sweet win for the maestro. He later played on the PGA Seniors tour and won 9 times in one season. Very under-rated golfer.

99 us open for me.  Although part of what makes it so special is that Payne was taken so soon after.  But what he did at 43 years of age, putting it all together was just so cool.  Battling with Phil, and both conducting themselves with such class on the 18th green.  It’s one of the few tournaments I can watch again so seeing it again for the first time would be really great…

Tiger’s 2018 Tour Championship win. Justin Rose won the FedEx Cup but I’ll never forget that walk down 18 for Tiger.

I would probably also say the '97 Masters. I remember watching it on Saturday at my house and had a date that evening. Went by to pick the girl up for the first time and ended up sitting in the den with her dad watching Tiger tearing it up until the broadcast was finished.

So many - but probably (recently) Phil's last major win, and ...

The 2005 Masters. Remarkable for several reasons. Tiger wins it on a playoff hole (love tourneys that close).

It was also Jack's last Masters. That final walk up to his final Masters hole (he'd played Augusta 45 times, and had won 6) was, oddly, done with little ceremony. He hadn't even announced that it was going to be his last Masters, and missed the cut. But there was a large crowd watching, and in retrospect it was a huge and moving moment in golf.

And finally, that was the year of Tiger's now-infamous chip at 16. Maybe not the absolute best, but certainly one of the most exciting hole outs in golf. The chip not only paused before dropping, but (hilariously enough) it paused with the Nike logo facing the extreme close-up the camera was doing. (Phil Knight was probably thinking "I don't know how much we're paying this guy, but let's double it".)

All in all, a tournament I still remember.
