New Maxfli Trifli and Softfli

Have played both in recent rounds.  The earlier round was the trifli and it feels like the old nxt tour- kinda heavy at impact.  It rolls out on drives a lot similar to the e12 for me.  Chips and putts very similar to the Hammer control I have been using at elevation. It is more shapeable side to side than the e12 again similar to the HC. Other than the heavy at impact feeling there is nothing I would change with the ball though it didn't launch as high as I thought it would.

Played the soft fli today in 15- 20 mph winds.  This ball feels great to me off the face of the driver and irons.  I don't think it rolls out quite as much as the tri fli but that may be because it launches higher.  It is a little softer off the face than the Tri fli on chips and pitches- putts very similar. Played on aerated greens today so everything was stopping.  Misjudged the wind a few times with it but in general it launches higher than the tri fli and e12 for me at elevation.  The previous version of this ball that I played a few years back was a little more rubbery around the green like the earlier supersofts and soft feels. This version was less so which I liked.   Depending on your personal preference for ball interaction I would say both of these balls are good values, especially when they are on sale.

Durability is fine with both - they are surlyn after all...

Thanks for the insight.  I saw the Trifli but didn’t purchase it.

update on the soft fli.  5 full rounds, 2 in the Valley of the Sun, 3 at altitude 5000 ft.  -13 during that stretch with a bogey free 67 in the middle of it.  69 of 80 gir, only 4 total bogeys. Had a stretch of 46 holes without a bogey during which I was  -11.  Reminds me of the tru feel but a little more shapeable side to side.  Very durable.  Went back and bought 2 doz for 35.  Today was a real tell- poor with my irons most of the day hit only 9 greens and short sided myself a lot; didn't matter, had 24 putts and shot three under 68, 4 birdies and a bogey.  Very happy with this ball so far.

Got an email today that TriFli’s are 2 doz for $40.

 

That’s a very tempting price.  Not sure I’m totally sold on my RZN balls.

I had never heard of the TriFli before seeing this thread get resurrected this morning. Interesting ball, I may have to check it out given how much I like the SoftFli for an inexpensive, low compression 2 piece.
