I’d say Bryson is already using a different ball than what’s on the shelves.

No one can use a ball that's not on the USGA-R&A approved list. No manufacturer is going to go through that approval process for a ball that they're not going to sell. That wouldn't exactly be a profitable move, and profit is why they make balls.

Cleveland Launcher HB Driver 10.5 degree

Cleveland Launcher Halo Hybrids 16, 19, 22 degree

Cleveland Launcher HB Irons 5-SW

Cleveland CBX 2 Wedge 60 degree

All with graphite shafts, JumboMax Ultra Lite size S

Taylor Made Daddy Long Legs putter, Winn Dri-Tac Jumbo Lite Pistol Putter Grip

Callaway Supersoft

There are a bunch of balls on the conforming list that aren't available for retail.  It's not uncommon.  The left dash was available to tour players for years before Titleist made it available for the retail market.  Same with the left dot and it remains to be seen whether or not it will become a permanent retail option in the future.  Titleist folks openly discuss these things in articles and interviews.    There is also a Prov V1 Star out there but every time I've read about it, Titleist folks have said that it's extremely unlikely that it will ever go to retail.

Exactly, Left Dot has been around since 2013, I think the reasoning behind releasing the Dot is because Titleist believes that between 5-10% of their consumers would be fit into it, which is actually a substantial amount. In that same study they did, less than 1% of golfers would be fit to the Star (basically a super high spin Pro V1), its very unlikely the Star will ever become a retail CPO

Agree strongly with this statement. I'm wondering if maybe the AVX would be on the way out as it doesn't share the PROV name and be replaced by the Dot, with the Tour Speed still available for those wanting a softer urethane ball. The AVX has always felt like a miss to me with the niche it fits and with its branding.

I am wondering if they would simply soften the Left Dot up a bit without any sacrifice in performance? At least to me, the 2021 V1 and V1X were "softened" up relative to previous models.  The Left Dot feels a bit hard.  If they could trim it back a bit, than the AVX could maybe evaporate away?

Thoughts?

I've heard that a lot about the Left Dot, just not sure how you soften the ball without loosing the characteristics that people are loving about it. Firm is fast, soft doesn't spin etc.

AVX branding is actually a little clever. Not a ProVx, but Amateur VX.

That's good but everything I've seen indicates that it means alternative to the the ProV1 and ProV1x.  I doubt that it goes away unless sales are really poor for what Titleist wants to get in that market segment (not compared to the ProV1 and ProV1x sales).

Hope not I’m loving the new avx.

Aren't the properties of the AVX and ProV1x completely different though? AVX-low traj, low spin ProV1x-high traj, high spin? I feel like that is more confusing marketing if you are tying the two together

I played DASH earlier in the season and DOT the day after the limited release came out.

for me, the DASH was a beast off the tee....this ball actually went 15 yards further for me and it wasnt just marketing hype...it flew very far. into the greens and around the greens, this ball was hard for me to play. Mainly because its so "hard" and borderline harsh feeling.  I also had issues with roll out. I could get used to it and if you are into pure distance, this is for you. Its a great ball, just not for me.

THE DOT - This ball matches and a lot of the time exceeded the DASH in terms of driver distance, or it seemed to. I think the trajectory was much better which makes it sem longer but the reality is this thing flies far, straight and the trajectory is perfect.  the FEEL is amazing as well. No harsh feels, especially off the irons into the green.  In terms of overall playability, this ball makes a lot of others look silly. I love this ball and I tested 10 different balls thi summer. This and the CSX were 1 & 2 with the regular prov1 in 3rd. But the regular prov1 was waaaay shorter off the tee than the left dot. 1 club difference on average with sometimes 2 clubs when i really catch it.

if left dot was readily available, id buy 50 dozen just so i never run out. to me, it was heads and shoulders above all the other balls i tested. Those include TP5 /TP5X/ CS/BSX/Prov1x/CSX/LEFT DASH/ BX

only the 3 i listed worked really well for me...

Go to titleist.com and click on balls.  The left dot is now available for 50 a dozen.  You can thank me later.

Any upcoming ball releases to compete with the left dash?

Not that I'm aware of but try the CSX LS and B X which would be the closest competitors to the left dash.
