iPhone 13 - who's planning on upgrading?

My current phone is an iPhone XS and it is seeing the end of it's days.  The antenna inside the unit has been performing worse and worse as of the past 6 months and I am near the limit of the storage this phone can take (256G).  I use my phone as an iPod (over 12,000 songs on it) and have some movies stored on it, my go to movies, when I fly on business.  That said, since my iPhone there have been two models and now the 13 makes a third.  I plan on upgrading to the 13 Pro Max and plan on the 1TB option.  The best part of this is that I can write much of it off, if not all of it as a business device.

 

Anyone else planning on upgrading and if so, why?

I used to upgrade every other year (original iPhone > 3g > 4 > 5) when there were significant changes to the phones. 

 

However, now it seems there isn't really much of a difference in models year over year aside from the usual stuff (slightly better camera, slightly better battery life, etc.).

 

Because of that I'm at a point now where I don't upgrade until I need to. I have an XR now that is about 3 years old and it's still going strong. When the time comes where I have to charge it multiple times a day then I'll upgrade.

Looks like there will be some changes with the 14 (no notch, touch ID).  I contemplated whether or not to upgrade but phone performance is critical for me.  My XS is a warranty replacement and we know refurbished units are sent.  To be honest I am not overly impressed with the XS over the 8.  My issue with my 8 was battery life as the battery needed replacement.  That said, 13 Pro Max it is for me.

Not me. Have an XR for work and an SE 2 for personal phone.

 

I choose to upgrade my wife's phone annually....got her a 12 mini in January....and came home with a new driver and 3W at the same time. I'm making my list now for the next upgrade pairing. 🙂

They have been predicting that for a few years now with no notch etc. but it never came with the next model. Believe they were doing that back in the iphone 10 days. I've got an 11 and went for the regular iphone 11, the iphone 11 pro was too small for me or what I was use to with videoing swing but it was the superior phone for sure. Now the Pro versions are slightly larger so I will probably upgrade to the 13 pro

I just traded a 7 for a 12 back in June (out of necessity) and for the asking price these days, it's just not worth it (to me) to have the latest and greatest.

I have an iPhone X.  I used to upgrade every 2 years, but I don't see the merit anymore.  Phone still works great after four years.  That said, the improved battery life definitely peaked my interest.  I'll be very tempted when the 14 come out.

I have a 7 and it’s in need of an upgrade, but just don’t want to spend the money.  Eventually I will have no choice, already replaced battery, and connecting off WiFi is slow.  My biggest issue is you upgrade and then 6 months later a new version comes out, so it always seems like old tech.

I used to get a new phone every few years. When this iphone breaks I'm getting a burner flip phone from Walmart so I can change my number every month. I don't need no stinkin' apps. There are only about 3 people I (might) want to talk to and/or text. I'm sick of Car Warranty Service and IRS agents from India sending the police to arrest me.

I’m with AT&T wireless and have an iPhone. I’ve been really impressed with the spam blocking. Calls show as ‘telemarketer’ or ‘spam risk’ and are automatically muted. So far, so good. 🤞🏼

For those who upgraded, how is the 13 working for you?  What is new and what do you like about it? 

 

I ended up getting a 13 Pro, not the Pro Max. These were the first pictures I took. No editing.  I have a feeling I am going to love the macro pictures.

Couldn’t resist and upgrades from xr to 13 pro yesterday.

 

Got $800 credit for a 3 year old phone, the 13 pro was $1000 so just had to pay 200. 
 

My first iPhone upgrade and amazing how your new phone pretty much loads up everything from your old phone perfectly.

 

Its on 5g which is cool I guess. Definitely notice an overall speed, frame refresh, crispness difference. The camera is insane.

Lol, I didn’t realize the credit was 800 bucks! Too good to pass up and it’s a huge upgrade from the xr.

5G is impressive. And my understanding is the 13 isn’t even that much different from the 12. If you’re phone is crapping out you’ll be stoked when you upgrade.

Not on Verizon😂…I routinely get slower download speeds with 5g than I do with 4g/LTE. I don’t pay the extra to get the faster 5g, whatever they call it, since I don’t visit the 3 square feet in the city that you can access it. 

With that being said, the 13 pro is really nice.

Ha! Well Even in NYC the lte was fine. The 5G is just that much faster and stronger. Like for watching the cable app or Netflix on the phone when not on Wi-Fi. 

Nothing huge going from the xr to the 13. The most noticeable upgrade is the camera and also the quality of sound for audio and phone calls even on earbuds.
