2021 P790 iron on Flynn Golf Shafts

You're putting a heavy adult head on a light-weight whippy kid shaft.  

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me.  

 

 

 

Are you looking to buy new or used?  I know you can customize 790 with L-flex KBS shaft for little extra.  This will probably end up costing less.

I’m new at this stuff, what’s some of the bad effect of having a adult head on a Flynn shaft? 
 

unfortunately I don’t have the option of shafts all coming with steel shafts.

9, 128cm, Driver swing speed 65 about a month ago, current set up Sim2 Max 6G weight on a Flynn shaft, carry 150ish with TP5. 80 carry with his current Flynn.

Heavy head with whippy shaft would result in something like this:

 

But more importantly, at that age he's still learning how to swing.  It would probably harm more than help.

I would say its unnecessary to even try. Flynn weight is actually heavier than some ladies shafts. You can get sub 50 or even super light 50 shafts would be better suited for those types of heads with out all the work of rebuilding. Flynn shafts are honestly not that great compared to other options out there.

Other then have them in the bag what are you trying to accomplish???

 

if you feel the need for a junior shaft then there is no reason to go out and buy adult heads. 

 Custom clubs are great but for them to worth anything you should already know what you need and what your trying to accomplish.

 

Most of the time people just like being told they are buying custom stuff when it just a club off the rack and causes problems.

I concur with most others on this thread. My son played the VT Max/Flynn shafts for 4 years. They work well with lighter club heads, but will twist with adult heads. You need at least a ladies flex with those SIMs. And a ladies flex may still be too stiff for a 65mph driver swing.

 

Honestly, I think adult club heads are too heavy for a 65 mph swing. They will slow down the swing until he gets stronger, and at age 9 and his current size, that will be another year or two.

 

My son is 11 with driver SS of 80mph and 8 handicap, and I am still wrestling with the decision to stay in his Ping Prodi Gs or go to adult heads. We would never have thought to go to adult heads before now. Have you considered the Prodi Gs? Or just buying the VT Max/Flynn irons? Both have been great for my son. He played VT Max irons from age 7 to 9, then switched to the Prodi Gs.

Have tested the newer Alto shaft with an adult head, compared with the Recoil 450 shaft on a similar head.  The swingweight of the recoil shaft compared to the Alto shaft was lighter.  The alto shaft wasn't whippy at all.  It was quite playable, was just slightly heavier than the recoil.
