Why do you assume he is addressing you?

🤣

Cheers 🍻 SM ; )

I wasn't, although I guess he could have been.  He just seemed to have a lot of anger.  Most guys who make fries seem to have a lot of anger.  I just put 2 and 2 together.

Haha, yes that's another of the OP's hypotheses.

Captains' presser was a snoozer.

We need Reed to tweet something disparaging the dairy industry, anything to get through the next three days of nothing to talk about agony.

In other news, since there is breakfast at Wimbledon, I'm having breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner at the Ryder Cup here at home on Friday!

Well, I've started a petition to eliminate both the Ryder Cup and the Masters, if you want to help out with that in the interim.  Your cat's agreed to sign it.  🙂

Most Americans don't obsess over the Presidents Cup either, In fact I wish that the International win more to make it competitive.

You definitely don't obsess - they've won 9 of the last 12.  Plenty competitive in my book but hey, I rooted for Stenson and Stenson and Rose in the last disaster of a Ryder Cup for the U.S.

While i don't often drink Yuenling I don't mind it at all. Definitely over the big brands like Bud etc.

Problem is, most the beer I drink a can costs as much as a six-pack of Yuenling 🙂

Yep I do not drink much anymore maybe a beer every now and then when I get a hankering---- Glad I don't anymore. Back when I really drank I would drink any kind of beer especially if it was free. ----- Now days around here there are so many folks making "craft beer" I would have been fatter than I already am

Every single one of the people on here knows about how he made his wealth. You pass by them every time you go to the garden center in any WalMart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Target (maybe?).

He made his fortune selling seeds in packages for a penny. His other competition had to mail them which upped their prices, since he lived next to a mainline railroad he was able to eliminate costs. He wasn’t really a golfer until later in life when he and his brother started sponsoring golf tournaments. Although a good player himself, he was captain at two clubs Stratford Upon Avon and I forget the other (fun fact Shakespeare was from Stratford Upon Avon) he was less known for ability but rather his enthusiasm and ability to promote the tournament's.

It really is a great weekend. Golfing with the boys and enjoying it all before it's gone.. No golf around here Nov-April.... that's real pain. 😄

Enjoy.  I'll be trying to do the same, 97 miles southeast.

BTW, I'm not particularly excited about this Ryder Cup.  Maybe because I am not fond of Pete Dye courses.

Well, he’s certainly my Mom’s hero 😊

Amazing the lasting impact of his enthusiasm for something.

Wait.  So this is a tournament named after a guy who sold seeds?  Hmmm...sounds like the topic for the next thread I start - "Should the Ryder Cup be renamed?"

The Ryder truck and supply chain logistics company would not like that. They've enjoyed decades of free name promotion 🙂

I don't think it should be cancelled, but I think the Presidents/Ryder Cup should be re-invented.  The premise of America vs Europe or anywhere else just seems weird in the modern day.  I don't really feel like the concept has aged well.   In recent years the US side rarely seems to show up for the Ryder Cup, but then dominates the President, time to find a format with some more balance that would include the worlds talent rather than breaking it up into these two events.

Like everything in life people would miss it at first and then forget it.

No one probably thought the Western Open would ever go away, but it is gone.  In 2021 the strength of field in some big tournaments not so good:

  • AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am   -  141
  • The Honda Classic  -   179
  • The Byron Nelson  -  298
  • Arnold Palmer Classic  - 460

To compare let's go back to 2015

  • AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am   -  285
  • The Honda Classic  -   466
  • The Byron Nelson  -  272
  • Arnold Palmer Classic  - 483

Those were pretty big tournaments in the past. The only one going up is the Nelson. Likely due to the strong Texas contingency on tour right now.

Time marches on and change is inevitable.

Well it’s actually named for him because he donated the trophy, hence Ryder Cup.
