Custom Shop

First, I know there are probably dozens of SC custom shop threads but I couldn’t find this specific.

I have a SC with very minor, but visible dings and dents.

will CS fix these if you send it in for customization since they are so minor or does it NEED to be restoration?

their restoration price seems very steep and turn around time is wild.

thank you!

Probably won't fix them unless you pay for the restoration.  Nothing is cheap with the custom shop.

Helps us out here. What do you want done and what putter are you sending in?

So many fair priced aftermarket people who do great work.

Oh boy oh boy. Well...take this in context that I really don't believe in sending anything to the custom shop unless its a very rare scotty or its 100% the putter you love and don't mind putting in money you won't get back.

For a red X2, worth a few hundred bucks, you will easily sink in the value of the putter, possibly even 2x the value. They will not change the weight plate for you.  You will basically have a redx2 that has about $300 worth of upgrades and will be sold for less than that if you ever want to move it along.

I think there are more than a handful of companies that will offer you a much much better deal, with equal results.

Now, you want a new scotty grip, headcover, shaftband, etc...the decision is yours, and yours only, whether you want to sink money into this putter. I think many on here will agree.

That actually does make sense..they did confirm they will Change weight plate but I think everything else you say is spot on.

thank you

I guess my next question would be what 3rd party place would you recommend? Ha

Actually? That's amazing lol. I didn't think the CS would do anything like that. At all.

How much weight are you looking to add?

Aftermarket restoration places include Continental golf, golf garage, embrace putter....

Yah, if you want those dings/etc dealt with by CS, your only option is full resto

which as mentioned earlier, would be way more than the putter is worth

I'd talk to BOS. For around $100, you can get everything you are looking for. Ask them to leave the bottom plate off once they make it look pretty and send the screws back with it. You will find plenty of hollow room to add a few nickels or lead tape to get it where you want. No way I would ever spend in excess of $300 at the custom shop to clean up a $100 putter. Plenty of other good options out there.
