Putting Guru Training Aid SCAM!

Hstead

Recommended Posts

How many on this site like me saw the TXG review of the putting guru and preordered the product?  Well it's a scam folks.  I ordered in Dec.  Waited and waited and waited and listened to the BS excuses after excuse.  I then asked for a refund, and sure enough, radio silence.  Nothing.  Lesson learned.  I hope the guys at TXG make another video and let people understand they were taken too evidently.

Avoid this company folks.

I assume it was with funds from your bank account? If so I'd contact your bank and see what they can do.

Wow, I remember seeing that video and considering placing an order. I want to say the TXG review discussed the one they were reviewing as not the final product, or something like that. I bet they shipped TXG a prototype and didn't have their production line planned out yet. Rough.

Oh yeah, here's their Instagram. You're not alone in your feelings, and the company definitely didn't have their product ready. Awful.

I did receive an email back from TXG.  They removed their video of the product so they cannot use it on their social media any longer.  They apologized, which it wasn't really their fault.

I watched that review and couldn't see what that product does that the T-stroke doesn't (for one third of the price as well).

It is an interesting position that TXG put themselves in. On one hand, they really did like the aid and felt it would offer help. And with the company saying they would be shipping soon, why not post the video that shows something that may be good for average golfers. On the other hand, given that it's a brand new company and COVID happened should offer hesitation to endorse it. I feel for the small business, but overpromising and underdelivering loses you customers very quickly. Hopefully all who ordered receive their aids!

  • 2 weeks later...

From their website, "WE EXPECT TO SHIP ORDERS IN MID TO LATE FEBRUARY!"

So it's just a SWAG (sailor's wild *ss guess) for them at this point.

They made a post on Instagram claiming they were still shipping soon blah blah blah.  I replied that it was scam and they will not refund my money.  They gave their normal BS reply to my post saying contact this email yada yada yada.  I have sent ten emails with ZERO response.  They are scam artists.  The money is gone.  No doubt in my mind all of the money has been spent, whether trying to bring a product to market and they failed, or it was lost on black jack in vegas, either way, the money is gone and there will be no product.

I received an email back from them on Aug 2 stating they were still in process and the parts were in customs still.

I asked for a refund, but since it was beyond the refund period with PayPal they were unable to process it.  I sent a payment request instead, and haven't received anything.

I am so sorry for the delays, I have been out of the office due to personal issues.
As of right now the remaining pieces are in customs and pieces are being released at their discretion. We have been refraining from updates or changes as far as the website and timeline due to the frequency of the delays outside of our control. Customs is currently behind, but has given us a 4 week window max, and we are currently 1 week in. We are confident the pieces will be fully released in the next month and hopefully sooner, as a small batch is scheduled to deliver today!
We are a very small company and are doing our best to work within the office, but are currently also working on the needs of the startup project itself including website changes, promotional imaging and other things we are very excited about. We do not currently have an eta on your exact package, but we are doing our best to overcome all of the obstacles this year has brought as soon as possible.
I have been attempting to process your refund, but it is outside of paypals refund window. If you would like to proceed, please contact them to reach out to us so we can authorize them to release the funds. I do apologise for the delays.
Thank you again for your patience and have a great rest of the day!

Anyone that thinks there getting a refund is in fantasy land.. I still think They are going to release the finished product..

Why bother posting the latest update on Facebook if They have no plans to follow through.. they already hwve our money and do honestly think anyone else is going to pre order...my guess is there investment is much higher then originally planned.. taking the money from the few of us that preordered is a drop in the bucket to what they have invested... they need this thing to go to market to recoup there investment

No one seen covid happening with all the supply and shipping issues...

For example my driving range ordered new golf balls Oct last year... they were delivered yesterday..

It was the running joke that the owner was scammed and there were no balls arriving

They have had other goods arrive in the last few weeks that were ordered last fall as well

As I said before I have already written off the money.. I hope he is able to get the product to market.. I guess it all depends on how deep the pockets are and at what point the well runs dry and they throw in the towel

I would bet money this wasn't  a scam..

Just a regular Joe that had a idea that he hoped he could take to market and make a few bucks

The scam part is they tried to fund their startup with their customers' money.  They probably made a couple on a 3D printer, got the TXG guys to promote it, took in a bunch of preorder money and then realized having product made in Asia and shipped here wasn't as easy as they thought.  Now they have all the money from preorders tied up into tooling and upfront costs and can't afford to refund anyone.  This type of business practice is unethical at best and unfortunately for the people that preordered it was really hard to see coming seeing that you took advice from TXG which is a trusted source.

Hopefully next time TXG decides to promote a product they do a little more research considering their reputation is also on the line...

I just wonder how much of my $69.99 is in TXG's pockets. 🙂

Maybe they're better people than I am, but I doubt TXG put their reputation behind this product out of the goodness of their heart.  After all, it is Ian and Matt's video that is prominently displayed and the selling point on the scammer's website (still).

No, I'm not saying TXG scammed me.

I'm not defending them but what small startup does not take pre orders to fund a product... Have a look at arccos how long did it take the caddie to come to market after the Initial pre order... That was over a year... Where these guys dropped the ball is the radio silence... I think if they had stayed up to date with communication we wouldn't see as many looking for a refund...

Txg is taking some heat for promoting this as 99.9% of the pre orders are probably from them...

It's to bad as I am sure Txg will be more careful on what they promote from here on out

It wasn't a million bucks and if it doesn't show up I won't lose any sleep over it.. I have spent more going out for drinks with nothing to show for it other then a headache

I don't mind the preorder when you're starting up if you have say 100 units on their way and you want to open a limited time preorder to gauge demand but if you're going to use your website as basically a kickstarter you should let people know what they're getting into beforehand.

They obviously aren't limited the number of preorders because you can still buy one and they're even on sale at a discount right now.  For all we know they've never delivered a single unit and they are already on sale.  Nice company.

Well fair points but comparitively speaking Arccos is a much more sophisticated product between the sensors and FW/App development.  Frustrating delays?  Yes but more understandable.  Putting Guru is a few pieces of molded plastic.  While I know firsthand that supply chain difficulites can impact everything down to raw materials availability (especially raw materials availability) to extend delivery windows out that far for a rather unsophisticated product is not good.  And I suspect cash flow is at the heart of it.
