Three round event this week. Hopefully it stays 54 holes. The weather forecast looks great with little chance of rain, and highs in the mid-80's.

TV coverage is delayed on Friday with the Ryder Cup taking over on the Golf Channel, but the weekend's coverage is OK.

Decent field this week with only a handful of top players sitting out, including Nelly, Inbee, and Hyo Joo.

How come it's only 54 holes?

This event has always been a 54 hole event; it's a big purse and therefore good value to the players from the (Purse/# of Holes) perspective.

The fact is Walmart sponsors this event for the benefit of its major suppliers and partners.  As a result, there're two pro-am days, both Wednesday and Thursday.

Cool. Did not know that.

Awesome event in my hometown!  We'll be out there for most of the morning rounds on Saturday.  This is such a well organized tournament and it seems like it just gets better and better every year.  Bummed to see the Korda sisters aren't going to be there but there are some superstars in the field so should be a lot of fun regardless.

Happy to see Nicole Broch Estrup in the lineup. Apparently she got married in July. Kasper Estrup is also a pro golfer and the pair have a daughter together. I had no idea she was also a member of the 'mama brigade' on the LPGA. I'm always rooting for that crowd. 👣

Same.  I played with Carine Icher a few years back in the pro am event and learned that she had a couple of kids that traveled with her.  Had no idea the LPGA has a mobile day care that goes to events.  Such an awesome benefit that literally gets no credit publicly from the media.

I wouldn't say no credit. The GC crew mentions it now and again, typically when one of the players has their child on the course, or near the 18th green with them.

Strangely enough, I always knew of this -- that they always had childcare while the players played -- in fact, I distinctly remember Stacey Lewis mentioning this on one of the tournaments in 2019(?) / 2020 (?) and I haven't forgotten...

I think P&G kinda "sponsor" this event too no?  not sure anymore..

Walmart is the title sponsor; P&G is the presenting sponsor.  I don't know the precise split between the two, but would guess it's either 75-25 or 80-20.

In any case, Walmart calls the shots but P&G would certainly also get its share of pro-am slots.

They definitely mention it and there are a couple players (e.g. Brittany Lincicome and Stacy Lewis) who have been pretty vocal about it.  Doesn't Smuckers sponsor the day care?  At least they used to.  Anyway, when a high profile player has a child and comes back to playing that's when we hear about it.

Nice to see a strong field this week.

Thanks, now I know more... Not surprising as P&G is category leader in quite a few of the WMT shelves (eg laundry for sure). Surprised they don't sponsor a tournament in cinci where they are based...

Just wait till they get to the Shoprite....their pro-ams are HUGE and larger than Walmart's.

So big...Shoprite will invite retired LPGA or "popular" female golfers to be the pros in the pro-am groups.

They use multiple courses to host the pro-ams.

Some WRX member has played in a few of these pro-ams on a yearly basis.

This is another casualty of scheduling the same week as the Ryder Cup; no Tom Abbott:

Yes, this is unfortunate Abbott won't be working the Walmart.

Many don't like Tom...but I like him because he will say funny things that others won;t venture to.
BUT

Lately GC has likely asked him to tone it down.

I've chatted with Abbott a few times...a funny guy...he's such a PANSY boy.

He told Judy he has never painted a room, etc...WTH....has always hired painters.

I chatted with him in 2015...there was Tom...sitting in a golf cart in the shade checking his phone...legs crossed with a mohair sweater, polished dress shoes, dress pants, etc

Such a Euro Gigi Boy.🤣

But the LPGA pros LUV Tom.

He's no longer posts here, but @4waymiss DROOLED over Abbott...even has a picture of Tom as his WRX avatar picture....LMAO.

I think Paige is covering the Ryder Cup too...so thankfully we won't have to listen to Giggles Paige this week.

BUT

Much to @Kaysquare chagrin....I think Stupples might be working the Walmart.

I plan on being there all day Friday and will like follow Ingee, the 3 mexicans or some of the Europeans, just depends on how pairs coming out.

Just sayin....but NO NEED to follow others.

It's DUMBO or NOTHING.....nuff said.

Belen is retired....so I now officially designate the title of SMOKESHOW  to In Gee now.

I really love Fair Liar as Dumbo's new apparel sponsor...she really amped up her wardrobe now.

More skorts and knee highs for Dumbo with Fair Liar now.

Tone it down?  Heck, it's already a "whisper"... he should ramp it back up.. Love major Tom on the box -- calls it as much as he can/is allowed to!
