Just tried the Mevo on the range with my kids and I was surprised by the lack of accuracy.  My 8 yr old would mishit a ball with Driver and it would say 100 yards, but I could see it was only 60 yards or so.  When he hits it well, he hits about 100 yards and the Mevo was close.  Is this normal on mishits?

Mevo, comparing with its competitors of the same price range, is pretty accurate. Having said above, I definitely have seen abnormal readings here or there. I'd say if you collect several data points, the reading is more correct. If you shank/thin one, sometimes reading is prone to be incorrect.

Make sure you set the unit directly behind the ball, NOT at an angle.

I’ve got a Uneekor QED, and just recently grabbed a Mevo to throw in my bag for the range.  Btw, my QED has been compared directly with a GC2, and it’s very accurate.

So I set the Mevo up in my sim room, and so far, it’s pretty much dead on relative to the QED in side by side use…possibly a yard or 2 longer.

I have seen the thin/bladed shot get some weird results. I chalk that up to QED camera vs radar hitting the ball/club head.

IMO, for $500 (or $450), it’s pretty darn accurate and a good tool for practice.  A GREAT, mobile companion to my indoor set up

In order for the mevo to be accurate you need the stickers on the ball so it can read spin correctly.  Especially on low spin range balls.

I agree.  You get some weird results on some very thin shots, but that doesn't really matter since you would delete those shots anyway.

Stickers aren't needed unless you want accurate spin numbers.  I wouldn't put them on range balls though since those aren't going to give you true spin anyway.  Stickers are better used indoors on your regular playing balls.

But he was asking why the distance on the range he was seeing wasn't matching what mevo was saying.  In my experience with mevo, it's no good at the range because the spin numbers are not real or accurate, especially on certain types of range balls.

I wasn't telling him to put the dots on range balls (but he can), just trying to explain why what he's seeing doesn't match what mevo is saying!
