Move from AP2's to T200

Has anyone moved from AP2's to T200's?  Are they noticeably more forgiving?  What do you do wedge wise?

 

I like the idea of some more help if it's really there.  My main issue is what do I do at the top and bottom of the bag.  If I stop at a 24* 5 iron, do I really need two clubs between that and my 16.5* 3/4 wood?

 

Just curious as to some feedback from those that have done this.  Was it worth the change to have to completely reconfigure your golf bag?

The T100 seems more forgiving than the AP2 so I would think the AP200s would have even more.  I would throw in a 7 wood or 21* hybrid between the 24* 5-iron and 4 wood.

I’m interested in this topic. I have circa 2008 AP2’s I’m looking to replace. Here’s what I’m thinking:

16.5 strong 5 wood

3 utility iron w graphite 

4-Gap T200’s

54&58* wedges

Currently play 716 AP2.  Ordered a T200 5i to test with and compare ... strong performance, but the sound/feel is not nearly as satisfying so I'll be sticking with the AP2s.

I play those as well. What’s your handicap? Truly I struggle the most with consistency with the 5 and 6 irons. 7-PW I’m pretty consistent. I don’t have time to practice much with young kids so I was thinking T200s would be good. But, it’s a complete bag overhaul with these things because of the lofts. I’m tempted to get a 5 and 6 hybrid and stick with the AP2s.

I made this switch, can't say I noticed alot of difference in forgiveness. What I did notice most was the difference in feel, you just can't ever match the feel of a forged club when struck pure, new T100 have been ordered and T200 are up for sale.

I'm a 5-6 hdcp.  In addition to the sound/feel, I found that while the T200 5i was around 6 to 8 yards longer than the AP2 5i, I was more consistent with the AP2.  Granted, I've played the AP2s for several years so quite comfortable with them.  I didn't find the T200 to be much more forgiving.

I had 718 AP2’s since they came out. The difference in feel is noticeable. Performance was better in the T200, until I bent my AP2’s 2 degrees strong and performance was identical. Off center guys were no better with T200. Ended up with some new PXG’s. Great feel with good forgiveness on low groove strikes.

Moved from a bit (a lot) older Titleist irons than ap2 to t100s and they feel great to me! If you want the new clubs go for it, otherwise as Hattie mentioned above some of the distances increases may be due to loft adjustments.

I ordered a set of T200s from Global Golf used to try them out.  I found them no easier to hit than my 718 AP2, and the feel wasn't there either.  When I get too quick, I often have a pretty aggressive draw (not my intention) and a further flying, more forgiving iron such as the T200 just makes the ball go further and hotter that direction.  I had the same problem with the Srixon 585.  Tried a 785 and it felt just like home afterward.    

 

For whatever reason, forged traditional irons seem to suit me a bit better.  Maybe I don't try to do too much with them?  I hit my forged 41-degree 9-iron 155, but choking down and doing an easy, smooth swing to hit it 145 always gets better results for me.   Also 5 handicap
